I just wanted to say thank you to those who have posted impressions and info about the game. It's great having people here on TA who actually know what they're talking about in regards to tactics, available maps, stats, boosts, ect, and that you all take the time to share that info. I'm still playing EU, as I haven't ever completed a game. I always get pretty discouraged if (when) my team gets completely wiped out, so I've always started from scratch when it happens. But not this time. Anyway, after I get through a complete game in EU, I'm moving into EW, and having all this information and impressions here. Thank you. =o)
I went to download my old version of a xcom EU today and found its no longer on the app store. WTF? Do I have to buy EW if I want Xcom action on my iOS device even if I've bought EU?
The original XCOM thread has info, but yes the game was pulled, and you can download it from your purchase history.
I played EU to death, several playthroughs, using savegames to restart a mission when my team got wiped out. If you really like EU as much as me, I strongly... STRONGLY recommend EW. I've played a few missions now and I can say it's the previous experience of EU, but with many add-ons and things to worry about. I still have to get to specific EW missions, but I've destroyed 2 UFO's, I am investigating new mech armors, played in the new maps and a whole bunch of things that make me enjoy EW a lot. As for stability, I can assure you EW is much more stable than EU. On my JB iPad 3 iOS 7.1.2 I've had no crashes whatsoever. A very slight stutter sometimes (higher stutter in the gas station map, but very playable as it's a turn based game), but no need to tamper with options to get the game to work correctly without crashing. I even got mail notifications while playing (2h session) and nothing crashed nor went worse after the 2h. Extremely happy with the purchase
Yeah no regrets at all buying this after owing EU.. Feels like a different game with all the added content.. That's how I feel anyways.. Just completed my first mission fighting against Exalt, absolutely loving this
Man I just beat a mission at a gas station with like a million enemies. I must of reloaded a hundred times lol.
I feel guilty doing reloads during battles but, and this is just between the two of us ok?, I still KEEP DOING IT! Especially on those stages where the Crysalids just go about and run over your troops. Hopefully after a few more missions I'll be more experienced (and brave) to not reload. Hehehe.
Oops, thanks for this thread Amenbrother and Lawliet - are we supposed to choose between the MEC and Gene mods? Can't we have both or would that require unachievable amounts of MELD? Aww man - I created the Gene Lab and was planning on MEC Lab next but if I needed to choose I know I would most definitely choose MECs!
Am so tempted to buy but my budget tells me to wait till a sales. $10 plus is high for a mobile game Does this run well on mini 2 ?
Thanks for the warning Lawliet! I would have assumed they still looked the same on their armor but with, I don't know, glowing eyes or something. I know I've been offering some good "role-playing" explanations (i.e. for the English-speaking foreign soldiers who went through English school prior to getting drafted in Xcom ) - so here's another one: Remember the enemies in the last Iron man movie, the ones who were able to regenerate and fought the Iron man armors with just their leather jackets and suits? I think that's the feel / jive that these Gene-modded soldiers are going for.
Reloading is a standard strategy whenever you clear an area but now that EW also has stealth enemies you need to cover teammates with overlook as well.
I think there was an error in translation here He's talking about reloading to an earlier save to avoid something stupid he did LOL.
