Haven't gotten to that point but once I do I'll get back to you.. About to have a 2-3 hour XCOM session #####
Yeah, the fishing village mission - it's really tough. I had a saved game just before that point and had three attempts at it but still failed each time.
Do I just take a troop loss and make it out? If I let one guy die I can probably make it out. Is that the best solution?
I'm not sure what would be the best plan. I ended up just ignoring the mission and moving on, with the intention of going back to it, but it just disappeared from the list after a while.
Ha, well that is your decision. I actually screwed up my game in general with nations pulling out all over the place, so I've just started a new one.
So hey whats the best way to stop that? Immediately build a bunch if satelites and spread them out? I lost a nation because I was in the process of building them but it takes like 20 days!
Been playing this exclusive on my device and im very impressed with how well this port works my mobile hardware ( Ipad air and sony z3c). The graphics is awesome especially considering this is a strategy game, the mechs are just badass. A game of this quality on my phone is a dream come true for strategy freaks like me
Game question: does anyone know if I can get the old armor designs back after gene modification? There's no downside to gene mods at all but then they all transform your troops into sleeveless Rambo. I actually don't like that look at all. If I'm getting this right, if you mod your entire party you'll lose your old xcom armor designs and everyone is a sleeveless hipster? Even the armor decos for gene mods aren't as cool as looking like a armored juggernaut. Pretty disappointed. Now I don't even want to mod the rest of my troops. My best troops just got mods and now I'm stuck with that look.. If I knew I probably wouldn't have modded them.
All mechs? lol that's crazy (and awesome). I did look up gene mods online and there are a lot of complaints. People don't like how the characters end up looking after modification. Me too. I think I'm going to reload 3 hours back (I'm actually pretty upset about this) and I also have to replace my favorite troop (who looked like a tank), just because I gene modded him. I don't have the save file before I did that unfortunately... Damn gene mod really screwed me up. I'm really disappointed that the armor decos won't even let you go back to your original armor look. Just because you're specially enhanced you have to go half naked? ... okay... Basically, the cool armor that you get in the game will only show the chest plate after you modded. Otherwise you're sleeveless and only have options of shoulder / arm pads. Ridiculous.
Well half of my guys are mechs. But I wasnt going to build the mech lab and gene lab you know? Anyway this game is getting hard now lol.
+1 Let it starve and die a horrible and painful death care of my MEC lol. I'm still on the second month and looks like the way I built my base facilities and research which worked in EU doesn't work here. That genetic lab is reeeeeaaally tempting
After turning my favorite soldier into Rambo and making me make another one, I hate the gen lab. I think I'll only gen 1-2 MAX for a squad. It just ruins their cool armor.
Rambo? You mean it deforms them? And i was planning to give my sniper that super jump thing. So it could give her kangaroo legs?
I've just finished investigating the meld thing, and if I'm right, it says there are two paths to go: genetically modified soldiers and mech armors, right? I just played the equivalent to the 1st ufo knock-down mission of EU, but in EW. It was in a farm. Very cool map. More high places to set the sniper for a + in hit chance
Yes that's correct. Gene mods can also become Psi soldiers. Mechs can't. Though mechs overall are much better imo (and cooler). Mechs allow you to LET them get shot. I often use a mech to scout since they can take a lot of punishment. I'm trying to make a group with 2-3 mechs then regular soldiers. No gene mods, but maybe one later on. Well basically gene mods change their look permanently. They don't look deformed but they are ALL sleeveless. And the unique looks of all the armors? You only get the chest plate. So basically after a gene mod, your soldiers will pretty much look near identical save the chest and be sleeveless. No more armored commando look. If you don't mind it then gene modding is always a good thing.
I'm explaining this rather non-practical look by assuming clothing gets in the way of alien gene powers. Notice most of the aliens run around butt naked, so I'm just pretending you need to show some skin to use your super powers LOL Just be glad they stopped with dropping their sleeves
