The first Disk Operating Systems were introduced when Tape Memory was replaced with rotating Disks. This was in the 60'ies of the last century. Since then a lot has changed, but many of us remember the days when there was no Graphical User Interface. This app now is introducing DOS for mobile devices. Not laptops, but phones. iPhone and iPad, to be precise. It is a perfect emulator of the DOS that so many games and applications in the 80'ies and 90'ies have been running on. Win and Win95 were running on DOS, showing what a 16bit operating system is capable of. If sys ini, commanc.com, config.sys and .exe sound familiar to you, then this is the app for you. The DOS is not just a CLI, it is a full fledged operating system. It does everything that the Ancient DOS did. It is capable of executing batch files or installing some of the game classics that never made it past DOS. It probably runs much better than the original DOS used to run on old PC's, which were state of the art back then. 30 years is old enough to be called vintage, and it brings as much power as it did back then ;-) With this app you can get this vintage feeling on your iPhone or iPad. ◆Features ▸ SoundCard emulation ▸ External Bluetooth Keyboard ▸ Disk Operating System ▸ Everything you would expect from DOS ;) If you have ideas, feedback, suggestions or anything else you would like to tell us, do not hesitate to drop us a line! And if you like Power DOS, be not shy to leave a good review! Mostly games, but can also be used to install things like Windows 95. I have not tried Power Dos (I use iDos 2), but its a good emulator for dos based on what I've heard so I will likely get it. Just waiting to see if it does go free in the US... nkarafo Well-Known Member Mar 2, 2011 860 9 18 #5 nkarafo, Mar 24, 2015 Yes but what is the purpose of have it in a phone? Let's say that we have windows 3.11 or dos games, programs. How I will use/play these? Since we have a computer (PC / MAC etc) in the first place, we have also the opportunity to have windows / dos - programs. I believe this application is unnecessary and frustrating to use with the little touch keyboard. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,790 579 113 England #6 psj3809, Mar 24, 2015 Last edited: Mar 24, 2015 To be fair if you have to ask that then i wouldnt bother getting this. Its the equivalent of someone in 15 years time saying 'why do i need an x-box emulator ??'. Dont mean that rude but this is more an app/emulator for older gamers i would say Totally strange reply ! Have you tried playing a game on this ? No ? So how do you find it frustrating if you havent tried. On my phone i have a Gameboy emulator, i have a Sinclair Spectrum emulator, a Genesis emulator. Thanks to this app i can also play old PC games on my phone whenever i want, classics which i see on websites or which appear in magazines etc featuring old games. I also have Windows and a PC, sadly i cant take these on the train/plane/my parents or when i'm away with work easily or dont have the need to as i have most of the games i want on my phone. Many games work fine on iphones, emulation works very well for many games and so do the controls Whats the purpose of this on a phone ? Well you could say whats the purpose of being able to play games on your iphone, surely you do that at home ?? This app is an emulator for people to copy over old DOS based PC games from th e 80's and early 90's. The original Command and Conquer/Dark Forces and others arent available on iOS but i can play them via this. And many more DOS classics. I'm still relatively new to iOS, having gotten an iPad mini for Christmas. So I haven't real encountered emulation software yet, like I have on my android devices. It would be nice to have a dos emulator.
