Closer to something like that Rage of Bel-whatever game, but slightly more in depth and with an excellent group PVP. I'm interested in it. You collect characters and combine them in battle to do special attacks basically...you COULD just use all of them without thinking, but you'll waste one or two of them that aren't compatible, and once they're used they can't be used again in that battle. So while it seems like it is obvious to just use every hero every turn, you'll miss out on the max combos. So, some slight strategy. Idk, guys. I can't tell yet if this game is clever or garbage. But I'm leaning to clever. BGrifter Member Jul 20, 2012 13 0 0 #5 BGrifter, Jan 18, 2014 X-Men and trading cards? I'm in. I can't figure out how to tell from the cards which ones go together other than just tapping on them and looking for the colored borders. Or is that it? Seems like you should be able to tell from the card thumbnails themselves. I thought it was those three colors at the top of each card, but that doesn't seem to matter. It seems like in general the mission character does more damage (and to all enemies) as opposed to using cards. Most times if I use 1 or 2 cards, even making team combos, I'll do less damage, or alternatively only hit one enemy. The damage is higher, though, if I simply use all 5 cards. I thought maybe there was limited use of cards or something, but they just seem to recycle. So is there any reason to *not* use all 5 cards for every fight? xbtran Well-Known Member Sep 2, 2011 337 0 16 #16 xbtran, Jan 22, 2014 Im recruiting for my team. We're in the 21st spot right now. Drop me a pm if youre interested! andysmash Well-Known Member Apr 6, 2011 2,067 1 0 #17 andysmash, Jan 22, 2014 Read the thread, I explained this on the first page. I'll expand on it more now. The purpose of the missions are to gather resources (money, command points, character cards) and gain XP for your main "account." So you have to understand the combo system first. If there is a connection bonus between characters used in a single attack, they'll gain bonus XP, which will allow the cards to level up and become more powerful. This is simplified, but look at it this way. There's a team of 10. 5 can connect only with each other, 5 can connection only with each other. We'll call them: AAAAA and BBBBB. If you draw a hand of AAAAB and use them all, you've wasted the B because it has no bonus. If you only use the AAAA and hold the B in your hand, you're likely to then draw AABB, giving you now BAABB and the ability to use a BBB connection, giving those bonus XP. Since the cards (in missions) recycle back after you use them this gives you the chance to make max combos if you only use the cards that connect. You're never going to LOSE a mission, so there's no good reason to do max damage - you want to get max connection for the XP. See? This is made more complicated for the X-Team PVP battles, because on those you do NOT get the cards you used recycled back in for free. So you have to really choose your combos carefully there. Missions help you practice and get your teams set up right, and then the battles let you use your skills. Artfoundry Well-Known Member May 11, 2009 2,519 2 38 COO and Creative Director at LCD Dreams, Inc. Bay area, CA #18 Artfoundry, Jan 23, 2014 Yeah, that matches up with what I've seen. However, the problem is that I haven't found any way to tell what cards can combo together simply by looking at them. I have to tap on them to look for the colored borders that appear, and those are not always easy to see, especially for someone colorblind like myself. The colored bars at the top of each card don't seem to have any meaning for these connections, which is bizarre since the colors are the same (as far as I can tell) as the connection colors (red, yellow, and blue). So I just sit there tapping on the cards in different combos until I have the best one. But that gets old after a short while in the missions, especially since using ready all often gets me the best or close to the best combo anyway (though I don't use that in the PvP battles). I think the mission and combo systems need some more polish. On another note, I've also been pretty confused with the evolve system. The help says you can evolve any two cards that are the same, no matter what their level/version, but many times I've had two identical cards (mainly higher than common) that wouldn't appear in the list. And they weren't in my active deck or being featured, so that's not the problem. I think the system is just bugged or else I'm missing something. RichRuzz Well-Known Member Aug 19, 2012 576 0 16 #19 RichRuzz, Jan 23, 2014 Yeah, this evolution stuff confuses me :/ rittchard Well-Known Member Nov 11, 2011 89 1 8 #20 rittchard, Jan 23, 2014 Thanks for the detailed explanation Andy, that explains most of it. Are there particular deck building strategies that maximize the way the system works, i.e. does a 5/5 split as in your example work better than, say 4/3/3? Or does it really depend on what cards you have available? I still think the mission system is strange. If how you described it was the intent for missions, why bother having a character do any damage at all? In other words, why not just have all damage be done through cards/combos? The card evolution I haven't had problems with. Any two identical cards "evolve" to a higher grade version. All the ones I have done had much nicer artwork. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
