WWII is so played out, but at this point there are only 3 next-gen FPS games (MC3, Warm Gun, Shadowgun), only 1 of which has functioning multiplayer. So yes, I'll take a WWII or any other themed shooter, as long as it's console-worthy. Medal of Honor begat CoD, so I'd rather see the original MoH:AA if it were a choice between that and CoD 1/2/3. MoH:AA was the first war FPS with a focus on cinematic presentation, something that IW made their signature ever since. Watching over my friends shoulder as he demoed the beach landing, I remember being blown away by how crazy WWII really must have felt.
I don't really think WWII is all that played out. I, personally, think that modern weapon games are played out. I actually would like to see a good WWII game on iOS. As far as gaming platforms in general, I want to see more future tech; this is something that has been discussed before for the COD franchise.

WWII Games: - 12 MoH games plus 2 expansions - 6 CoD games plus 1 expansion - 3 Battlefield games plus 2 expansions - 7 Brothers in Arms games - 4 Day of Defeat games - dozens of others (Source: Wikipedia) I would like more Vietnam era games set in Vietnam. VietCong for PC was one of my favorites. It's modern enough to have AK47s and M16s, but with crazy Viet Cong running through tunnels and hiding in trees.
I guess if you look at it that way then it is played out. I look at it as there aren't that many WWII, or at least any good WWII, games being made nowadays. A GOOD WWII game on iOS would be awesome, IMO. Maybe in terms of numbers modern combat games haven't been overdone, but in terms of hype, I think the have. I agree with you on more Vietnam games (or similar games) because in COD: World at War, I enjoyed the Japanese levels a lot. I'd, also, still like to see more/better future tech shooters.
