Lots of people clearly do, otherwise they wouldn't of even used the same model they used for injustice. I currently have two teams of bronze characters, pretty easy to get that. Play for the 15-20 mins grinding, and in-between watch TV/play another game/do the dishes etc. (just saved up enough for my first gold character, god I hope there isn't a silver only comp coming up soon ) With they way kids attention spans are these days and their ability to multi-task in fact this is probably better for them . And with so many cheap/free games out there it shouldn't be hard to find some to fill in the gaps. If anything its good for teaching kids adaptability and I guess patience ;D
wow, you have to be either heavy eater or neatnik to be able to do the dishes every 2 hours for next hour and a half I don't know, the whole premise of a game that limits you from playing instead of trying to keep you in as much as possible sounds pretty strange to me. I understand there are whales, the players with unlimited resources whom buy whatever the game offers and probably ensure the return of investment to the developer, I just think it's not right. But as I said, basically I don't care. As I wrote in other threads, I always did and always will support the premium games over freemium ones, that's the least I can do. We all have a choice what to play or not. I'm just saying, games like these are clearly designed for profit, not for enjoyment of playing. There's no big idea put into it, not months of hard work spent on custom level design (as someone mentioned earlier, it feels like reskin of different game), so it's pretty obvious. If there's at least a possibility to get rid of the energy bars with one-time IAP, let's say it makes a difference. I'd be willing to pay for that (not for me, but so my son can play smoothly when he wants, not when the game allows it). But I assume that's never gonna happen because if anyone playing the game, the model somehow works and there's no reason to change it.
Bingo!!! Thank you for answering this because I was about to say the same thing. I mean a lot of us work and have a family anyway so we play some on breaks or lunch and then get off. This isnt meant to be played ALL DAY. In Injustice it was a slow go at first but before you know it I had almost all characters and 100 stamina re charges saved up. So play a few matches and then go do something else.
I agree with your points especially what you wrote about the lack of freedom with these new crop of fighters, and most of what Shaun Musgrave said. I'm also one of those players who has adapted to touchscreen control fighters on iOS, just wish devs would take the platform more seriously and I thought they would as devices became more powerful i.e iPhone 6 and Air 2 sadly we're getting the pretty visuals just not the deep gamplay. As like you said Volt was the last true fighter with a control system that worked and I use to have loads of fun with it. But I don't want to keep playing retro ports.. but looks like I'll have to for now. Thanks for the ppsspp suggestion, I'll have to check it out.
Yeah, this is something I probably can't understand. I grew up in ZX Spectrum (Commodore, Atari and Amiga) era when the whole concept of games designed for enjoyment of playing was the point. No IAPs for purchasing additional lives, no ADS. You had to put some effort if you wanted to finish the game, there was no linearity, no holding hands with maps or constant interuptions with storytelling (making current games more like interactive movies). That's what I wanted to say with my first post, I just feel sorry for the kids these days to be forced to accept what somehow supposed to be natural in games but it's not...
Things evolve that's just the way it is. I'm sure your parents had similar things to say about the way you played games when you were growing up as well. Whats natural for you wasn't natural to them then either. Just like whats natural for your son will be different again. And there have always been roadblocks to gaming. Like only having one TV and having to stop playing because dad/mum wanted to watch 60 minutes or something else.
If you can just get 1 gold character off a booster pack you can start collecting a lot easier. I have beaten a few of the bonus battles and they gave me a few silver cards. Also by this point you will have a few bronze guys so you can rotate out when energy is depleted.
I think it's just silly that you won't let your kid play a game because of your stance on freemium and paid games. I understand the game is made for profit and I have accepted that. I personally am comfortable with the stamina bars. When I am out of energy, I have plenty of other games to cycle through (Madden Mobile, Marvel CoC, Angry Birds Go, Angry Birds Epic). I could go on and on.
I never said I won't let my son play the game. On the contrary. I was just asking about the stamina bars and how fast their refilling is. He tried the game, he wasted all given instant-stamina-refresh cards and that's it. You know, it's harder to explain to a kid why he can't play the game even though he just started. Well, I assume, it's how it is. And I'm glad he decided to play something else instead of accepting this ridiculous game mechanics. And he's just 8, he doesn't go to work or have a family to take care of. He doesn't want to grab a "game" like this just during his short breaks between other responsibilities like someone wrote earlier. And that's the point. Howgh.
Yep, I'm as bummed about it as you are. Worst part is, nobody LIKES these pay/timer models. Even people who only play for free and want something for nothing (the people that are the reason these grim-future pay models exist) hate them. Unfortunately, as evidenced here, the players will actually defend games with these ridiculous terms, using the same wonky logic they'll probably use in pointed response to this post, and any other anti-shitty-pay-model post.
The official answer is: It takes about 12 minutes for a stamina segment to fully recharge. 2 hours to fully recharge the full bar. If the user taps 'Recharge' in the battle preparation screen, they will see the time remaining for the current segment recharging for each character on their team. No, the system is designed to be fair and reward for playing, not winning/losing. it'd be unfair to punish people who aren't as quick. No. It's set up to be that way by design. Thanks for asking great questions! We're checking on this for you. I'll let you know as soon as I do!
I have encountered a pretty nasty bug wherein the opponent ai calls in multiple opponents when they tag in. During one online match I had all three members of the opponent's team gang up on me at the same time. This becomes really annoying when you are trying to win online matches against tough opponents.
I mentioned this in an earlier post, but, we are aware of that problem and will be addressing it in the next update!
By comparison, this game and injustice are very easy when it comes to grinding. I've been playing since Wednesday and have purchased the 75k pack each day. 3 gold cards, and a plethora of bronze and silver means the stamina bar is not important... These games are generous when it comes to rewarding energy timers refills. It's possible to play without having to go crazy on your wallet but you must be smart about it. Not sure how else explain this
