Well we all saw SunriseMoon's idea of like a free for devs service that is just FAAD. Heres my pitch to you: We all do it. We all hate it. We all wait for those apps to come out, and we either search the store, or check online. But, How would you (the consumers) like a service that emails or notifies YOU when that awesome app it out, on the store, and in your country? Would you consumers out there sign up for this and use it? I know it sounds cool because im tired of searching Guerrilla Bob every 5 seconds on the app store! ha, but also, would you guys/ gals like sales too? Also, if this did happen, would anyone help, maybe a site that emails or an app with push notifications? just a thought, because it will make our lives THIS much easier
it's definitely a good idea for today's generation of users, I personally wouldn't use it as it perpetuates the concept of being impatient.
well wouldnt it stop it? because you could just play and go along with your day until BAM! the app is out! go find a wifi spot!
Its a great idea. Actually, it's such a great idea that a few devs have already had success with it. I can't think of the names of the apps off the top of my head, but I'm sue others will chime in. With them you can make a list of apps you're watching for price drops or releases and they notify you when it happens. Edit: the first one was App Sniper. It came out not long after the app store opened
I think he meant about upcoming games which people are waiting for specifically. Like If I could sign up somewhere and chose games which havent released yet (like Plants vs zombies, Cogs), there will be a notification sent to me (via email/IM/push etc) telling me the game is out. Nothing out there has this facility for now. Btw, prab talked about something like it a while ago where you can subscribe to an upcoming thread on TA. Once the game is out and a mod closes the thread, it sends out the alert to everyone who subscribed telling it`s out now.
Thats exactly what I mean! 'Cause it would require no time spent waiting, just playing and waiting. that sends cool, but like...idk...GTA was so unexpected, like it would be weird. the only thing im not finding easy to deal with is how to tell when the app is out, would I hire tons of people to sit and wait then we just tell everyone or what?
it was free I would sign up but not worth paying for IMO. It would be convient not a nessesity. It would be great for when free apps popup though. Currently I just trust TA to Twitter about free games. That's how I got Aurora Feint II for free. I would consider helping out if it was a website/webapp, as that is all I have experience with. But I wouldnt want to make it a full time project, but perhaps help with the initial phases or something.
yeah, im thinking if after awhile it works and rocks, it might become an actual iphone app or something, until then, it'd stick to email...But i'd love to make this work
What you are trying is a good effort but I`d prefer if TA did it instead. Now you`ll be getting this info about latest releases from TA only so it`ll be faster and easier to implement (considering there is a mod here pretty much all the time) using Prab`s idea. All we need now is to pitch this idea to arn and Eli. Btw, I`m not trying to discourage you. Give it a try and see if you can do it. But I think TA method will be a lot more practical
