Ok answer honestly. If an app was too big to download over 3G and you needed to be on wifi to download it, would it affect your purchase decision?

I ask because my next update will push my app over the limit in some countries

Hmm.. Your thread title is misleading. I thought you are making an app that will not work unless its connected to the internet via WiFi (as opposed to edge)

Also, the poll is a little confusing: the thread title is "Would you buy", but the "yes" in the poll is "yes, ... I may... not buy". Also, just because someone said "No", doesnt mean that they purchase from home.

I'd just wait till I got home if I really wanted it. I never really buy on impulse so my desire to get a game doesn't really go down after a few hours. However a free game that I think looks kind of interesting that is over 20 mb has a chance to be forgotten

Damn. Well I can't edit the poll. I got my game squeezed down to 10.9 mb and that is with 32 Kbps mp3s. So I really can't get it down to 10. I hear that networks outside of the us have a 10mb limit for 3g

I can edit the poll, Just PM me what you want changed about the thread title / poll. Or you can just make a new thread/poll and I can delete this one.

It may not be worth it at this point. I just wanted to know if the 10 mb limit on edge and other non us networks affect peoples decisions to buy apps.

Nope, don't really care. Then again, wifi is pretty much ubiquitous in major cities nowadays, at the very least you can find it in McDonald's and Starbucks.

Personally can't stand using EDGE anyway, so I hardly ever use it. It's bad enough for just checking email, I can't imagine what it'd be like trying to download a 10MB app. .

I was thinking something different from the thread title "Would you buy an app that required WiFi?" to which I would answer Yes - iMech, XPilot are two that come to mind.

The only apps I've obtained that required a WiFi download were gallery/magazine apps, and I didn't pay for those.

Does this question include DLC? Or free/upgrade via DLC apps like Rolando 2?

re: Would you buy an app that required Wifi?

I have a same connection in two phone but software and other things downloaded differently due to the one is Windows and the other is normal.
There is also the features is related to its downloading capacity. I have a 20MB capacity in my normal phone which doesn't needed to use WIfi because this is depend on the software.
