You don't need many - why don't you just read this one online?: http://www.hnsa.org/doc/uboat/index.htm :D

I was going to get Silent Hunter if it ever came out in US, but this game/sim seems ten times better. The graphics look good and the gameplay is where this one is at. This is a game with depth(pardon the pun). Keep the updates coming. Just added this to this list of games to get upon launch.

Well, I've taken time to watch all the videos, more carefully. And now the game looks even more impressive.

The day/night cycles are good, the sky looks nice at sunset.

The sea in the 'overcast' video is perfect. Just the right colour and the texture and movement of the sea is good. I also think the rain effect looks great.

The wake looks good, but it would be nice if you could enhance it a bit more. Maybe some splashes at the bow?

The ship/sub detail looks better than I previously though. I like the ship with the dazzle camouflage. I also noticed the smoke effect, that is good.

The searchlight is a nice feature, it works really well.

The map and waypoint system looks interesting. Is the map going to be scaled down or is the journey time going to be sped up? Because the course you plotted would take quite some time in real life, lol. It looks like a great feature anyway.

It looks as though you are quite a way from completing the game. I assume you still have to do the underwater stuff, interior, missions etc.
Anyway, take your time (I'm sure you will). Don't feel any need to rush it, just be sure to make everything perfect!

So far it looks great, please keep us informed with your progress and we can give you feedback if you need it.

    LBG :)

You can can speed up the game time up to factor 1024 (you can see time compression in the video of the sunrise, just look in the upper right corner - I've turned this off for the ships in this video so only the sunrise speeds up.)

I wouldn't say all but a number of big companies/publishers are focusing on games with tried and tested concepts. Hence you see Gameloft and Ngmoco "cloning" games for the fast buck.

Silent Hunter isn't even a decent clone for a simulation - it's an obvious and shallow arcade game.

From the looks WOTA is still a long way off from being complete but I hope it does eventually get there.

While a lot of stuff is already done under the hood, it's still not ready for beta yet. Good thing is that for some reasons the development will become faster soon.

    Hey Mark...
I didn't just bookmark the WOTA website. I added it to my homescreen! I'm dying to play this game! I've lost interest in SH for iPhone and have now decided to wait for WOTA!

Just wondering what you are working on now with the game?

It looks like you have already got a lot done. I love the ships and the detail and I think the grapics are pretty good for such a game.

Oh and will the ships really sink or just blow up and disappear?

    :)

But it will still take some months till it's finished!

There is still a lot to do under the hood and many ships will be added. I'll keep posting updates of the development.

    Yes ships will sink.

This might me kind of a stretch, but if you want this to be a REALLY realistic environment, it would be cool if you accurately showed the stars in the night sky and different constellations based off your positioning. Just a thought.

I think the WOTA will need to have different gameplay settings - at least one for the hardcore sim fan and one for the arcade gamer. I think if you make everything 100% realistic, you will lose the other group. Don't know if you have that in mind already, VIC20, but that's my thought.

I suppose one easy way to do this is have quick reload, quick repair times for the "arcade mode".

This would be possible, but I'm glad that the stars are real ones already - just their position is not correct. But the sun is always at their correct azimuth and elevation based on date, time & position.

The stars are not so important, WOTAs AI Navigator comes with GPS - yeah easy mode ;)
