Wissen? Nein. Hoffen, ja. Aber das mal wieder zu sagen führt nur zu Enttäuschungen.

Please keep the thread english :)

The Most Anticipated Submarine game EVER!

First off, I would like to personally give MANY thanks to the creator VIC20 for working on this EXTREMELY AWESOME upcoming project! I was beginning to think that there would never be anything like Silent Hunter on iOS, but now our dreams are coming true! I absolutely admire how much attention you are paying to this game, making it up-to-par, or even better than the latest of Silent Hunter series!

We're still waiting (and so are our wallets), lol. Hopefully the game won't require an internet connection to play, as I as well as many others want to experience the single player campaign unhindered and fully running as optimal as possible on our devices without any need for a persistent internet connection----like a true simulator should.

I would like to ask for two things:
    1. For added realism (inspired by the movie "U-571"), could you add into the game the ability to dive to dangerous depths that would dynamically damage your ship's hull (depending on your submarine's hull integrity) with the possibility of your ship being crushed/destroyed if you stay too deep for too long? This could be due to the need to evade attacks, or simply see the consequences of going that deep....also could be used for some sort of strategy.

    2. Could it be possible to add enemy ships that could attack via depth charges, which would inevitably call for evasive maneuvers such as the need to dive deep?

I hope that the release date is coming soon! Maybe Summer 2015? :D
Thank you very much! We're looking forward to this game!!

    Yes.

Sure, enemy warships have depth charges. They have different depth settings and you could out-dive them (if possible)

I'm sold yet again (I was already sold when I posted the previous message, haha)!! Thank you VIC20 for being such a dedicated and supportive developer who actually takes the time to listen to their potential (now in engraved in stone) customers! We eagerly await the completion and release of your creation, so let it be written, so let it be done! :)

    Sad.

I wanted to test out the released Compass app to test out how the underwater external and internal views would run on my iPod 6, but it said app was not supported for iPod. I assume that's because of the compass part. Oh well. :(

I sure hope the released game will support iPod 6.

Yes, iPod touch 6 is supported. The game will run perfectly on it because it is more powerful than the iPhone 6 due to it's lower amount of pixels.

You are right, the WOTA U-Boat Compass App is not supported on the Pod touch because it requires a compass.
Same situation on new Apple TV – the compass won't run on it but the subsim should run great.

Wanted to bring this thread back up from the dark, cold depths of this forum.

Is this thing going to surface this year?

Yes, it will surface this year. My current guess is early May. <-- Edit: Well, this was an epic fail, and that’s the reason why I don’t answer to such questions anymore

I am still working on it. I will announce the release date as soon as it is finished, but as history shows, when it comes to the release date I fail to give any good estimations.

    Thanks for your patience.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything new about the WOTA: Wolves of the Atlantic.
I’ve wrote a long newsletter and uploaded it to the website today:

    Broken Silence

    Hi VIC20,

It has been quite some time since we've heard from you, it's great to see that you're still alive! I read your newsletter, and it's much appreciated that you gave us some insight on events past concerning the development of WOTA - Wolves of the Atlantic. Regarding the subject of Apple and time changes affecting WOTA's development, I've checked out Captain Temporium (iOS) and noticed that the minimum iOS requirement is 9.1, which is higher than my iOS 8.x device; this very factor poses a threat for me.

I understand that development for WOTA had already been started quite some time before Captain Temporium, and I believe that WOTA was likely tested on iOS 7.x and/or iOS 8.x firmware in the past. Given the fact that Captain Temporium's minimum iOS requirement is 9.1, I'm afraid that WOTA would also follow suit thus making it impossible for me to play the game without updating my iOS 8.x, which I unfortunately, as well as many others do not intend to do. My iPad Air 2 runs iOS 8.x extremely well and is also very stable. If I'm wrong (which I truly hope I am) about the iOS minimum requirement prediction, then my purchase remains guaranteed even if you charge console game price.

Like the above poster mentioned, Silent Depth (iOS) has been released, and that developer also seems to have truly put forth the effort as you have (and are still) while keeping the compatibility open for those who are even still using iOS 6.x, which is quite the broad range of customers. His asking price of $7.99 USD is trivial to me, and since my device is capable of running the game, I am deeply compelled to make the purchase to tie me over while I still wait for the proposed 2017 release of WOTA....and that's only IF my iOS firmware is compatible.

Thank you very much for all that you do, and I truly hope that you can gain great success in all of your endeavors! :)

We gallantly await your game. ;)

    Sincerely,
    -senkoujin

I will try to support the oldest possible system with WOTA. Of course I know the developers of the other sim (developers of naval simulation games is a small scene). I don’t think it is iOS6 because you can’t support anything lower than iOS8 these days.

Requirement of iOS9.1for Captain Temporium was just a stupid mistake – I’ve actually advertised it as iOS8 and later till I've realized that I’ve set it to 9.1 accidentally :-/
Next update of Captain Temporium will support iOS8.4. It should be available end of this week or early next week.
