It will be Premium. I highly dislike the concept of FTP and IAP. IAP would be only acceptable for really huge assets like a completely different playable U-Boat class and its interior (a Type XXI for example) which requires a lot of work to implement into the game. But there won't be any UBoat classes in WOTA: U 96 other than the Type VIIC. The later main title "WOTA: Wolves of the Atlantic" might come with some rare IAP for such special U-Boats.
Nothing in my life has a higher priority than this subsim. But because it is a submarine simulation game it has to be realistic (simulation) and it also needs damned good mobile graphics. I'm not happy unless it is by far the best Uboat game you could imagine on todays iOS hardware. And this all takes time, actually a lot of time already. The development took already more time than WWII lol.
Some more screenshots of the submerged Uboat. I was just working a bit on the website of my subsim. So I had those screenshots at hand - more pictures (mostly submarine and flower corvette) here: http://www.wolves-of-the-atlantic.com/games/simulation/submarine/mobile/Screenshots/Screenshots-Wolves-of-the-Atlantic-1.html
I've released a new App which is directly related to WOTA today "WOTA: U-Boat Compass" I would say this is the most impressive compass app available. And it has some stuff of WOTA builtin, so this way you could kind of test how WOTA will run on your device. (3D interior of the boat and a submerged U-Boat scene like shown in the pictures above). App Store; https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wota-u-boat-compass/id956825556?mt=8 http://www.wolves-of-the-atlantic.com/apps/compass/wota-uboat-compass.html
Awesome! You are very dedicated.. Thanks. I love sub sims on pc... This looks unreal.. Too good to be true! Hope controls for the game are do able. Would like to see such a great game, let down as couldn't get all the needed controls onto a touch screen. Is it still coming to iPhone? Iphone6 benefits? Lol!! Have you been working on it that long?!
Isn't the background of the compass on that one part, just a flat static photo of the inside of a sub?
79p? Thought it would've been free as its a bit of a tech demo so can test what will partially run like.
The control are made for mobile. The screen isn't full of tiny buttons. What you need to access quickly can be accessed quickly. And to offer you the best precision the gauges will appear enlarged on the screen. …guess why I had the compass in such a high zoomable quality at hand ;-) Sure for all iOS devices starting with 4S and iPad 2 / mini Benefits of the iPhone 6 are better graphics quality. No, that is a high res 360° spherical panorama of the command room of U 995. But I guess you had the 3D command room in mind? The 3D command room is shown only in the "animated compass tour" (can be opened from the "information menu") It is not a tech demo, and it is not sold as a tech demo, it is a high quality compass app. The "tech demo" is part of the little educational info tour about the compass installations inside a Type VII submarine. And remember that this app also supports the preservation on the last Type VII U-Boat U 995 and of course the development of WOTA.
Thank you. That was the plan when I started it, makes no sense to create something that is worse than what is already available which is one of the reasons why the game takes soooooo loooooong
Gfx are awesome!! Very high detail too when zoomed right in. The background to compass screen is like a flat panoramic photo though... But I guess we won't take much notice of this in game. The 3d control room when doing the tour, is very nice n smooth. Sub also looks stunning from the external view. All runs great on ip6
From my newest Newsletter: Progress made in 2014: - Visually WOTA definitely reached desktop quality on mobile now. - Implemented my custom high performant global illumination system. - new custom physically based shaders with real time IBL (Image based lighting). - Improved the water shader with transparency and refractions. - Water color based on weather and lighting. - Water shader works now for higher altitudes of the camera - up to 10,000 meters. - New realistic underwater environment with correct visibility, crepuscular rays and caustics. - new FX, fire, smoke, depth charge explosions, large water splashes and new ship trails. - New dynamic clouds with correct lighting. Weather FX like thunderbolts (this all works with real time IBL). - All new 3D model of the Type VII U-Boat U 96. - Highly detailed 3D interor of the command room. - New buoyancy and underwater physics system. - Correct hydrodynamic simulation - matches historic Type VII test data by 90% in all situations. - Correct simulation of the diesel engines and propulsion. (which means for you: absolutely correct acceleration and fuel consumption). - Correct simulation of all ballast tanks (including damage) based on newest scientific research for computer controlled ballast tanks. (my head is still smoking) - Physically correct aircraft simulation based on the blade element theory - Aircraft AI which really flies the aircraft with a virtual joystick. (crazy stuff, would in theory even work with RC models if they are fitted with sensors) - New skin shader for the new characters. - School of fish implemented into my underwater environment smile-Emoticon - Tons of stuff and optimizations under the hood.
I think I already posted some of this but if not here are some links an videos: First of all parts of the 3D interior and the submerged U-Boat can be seen in the new "WOTA: U-Boat Compass" app: https://itunes.apple.com/app/wota-u-boat-compass/id956825556 Nice thing is that people who buy this (awesome ) compass app can see (in the "animated compass tour" under "information") how some stuff of WOTA performs on their device. You can run the "test bed" of the engine simulation in a web browser (Mac/PC only) Set the different standard engine settings and see the screw running, a time/velocity curve for the acceleration plotted, resistance and thrust and it shows things like current SHP, fuel consumption etc. http://www.wolves-of-the-atlantic.com/downloads/WOTAengine/WOTAengine.html In this video you can see the engine stuff running with a terrible GUI in my project (you may recognize the compass from the compasss app ;-) ) Nothing special happens there, I think I've made this video a while a go to show the implemented compass to a friend.
