Wasn't sure where to put this one actually so I just put it in the lounge in a way it's my rant against a certain application but I'm also curious what others consider their biggest waste of money. I'm sure everyone has a made a mistake or two on the app store I've even done silly things like buy an ipad version of a game when I don't have an ipad although I just put that down to my own stupidity and deleted it although I did buy it again in the correct version. What got me thinking about this was an update earlier today to what is definitely the worst application I have ever bought I was keeping it in the hope that an update would fix the problems but I can now see that will never happen the update was months later and addressed absolutely nothing. I suspect the update is solely to hide the one star reviews one of which is mine. The application I consider my worst ever purchase is linkinus an IRC client which doesn't even let you list rooms you can join which basicly makes it the most useless IRC client that has ever existed. What really annoys me about it is they call it full featured and it costs more than some that actually do a good job I ended up buying colloquy not long after buying this one which does a far better job for less money.
I do myself now I originally bought that one probably about a week of having an Apple device and was thinking in terms if it costs more it must be better although I also think the description of Linkinus is very misleading and probably still catches people out.
You can quite easily deny that Pocket God is a fabulous app. Imagine the most mundane and childish game ever, take away any aspect of it actually being a game, throw in a cheap and tacky schoolyard fad then add a dash of Hannah Montana and the cast of Glee for extra crappiness.
This isn't really cost efficient either. How much time would you spend researching a .99 app? More than 10 minutes and you start to see negative returns. And that's if you make minimum wage! If you're time is more valuable than that it makes sense just to go for any app that looks interesting.
So your assuming that every second you spend looking at reviews and information on apps would be spent on working and earning if you weren't doing so? That doesn't make sense.
Ah, that's what I do now. But alas, I remember the days before I knew of TouchArcade and the first two months I had my iPod I made some foolish purchases: All-in-one Gamebox (by trinity) Ricky And I'm sure there's others...
I think Trinity Interactive still holds the title one of the few developers who has never developed a single good game. They've rolled out at least 20 games by now, and I suspect none of them have a playability of over 10 minutes. Apparently in their books quantity > quality.
Super monkey ball Pocket god 3D World (the demo level made by unity, released by some scumbag calling it a FPS but clearly wasnt! Pulled by Apple soon after)
I am unemployed and I would much rather spend 10 minutes looking up reviews and gameplay than know I made a bad choice.
