This has potential to be a (Ios) game changer. It looks great. I enjoy TD strategy games and this looks right up there with the likes of such Td heavyweight games i.e. Kingdom Rush & Field runners. Im interested in seeing how this one develops.
This is not vague at all, since the upgrading is done with your actual units and we are explicit about what happens when they level up. Unlike traditional tower defense games the decisions during the actual waves are around what additional units to use and where to put them. I will be doing a Twitch stream on Wednesday just playing the game and answering questions so I can go into more detail about the strategy and how we are trying to build out the different potential options.
I am going to be streaming live in about an hour on our twitch stream. Come by and ask me questions about World Zombination or indie game development.
This looks like a really good game, wish I could add to my watch list. I'll keep a note of this. I can tell it'll be a game changer for the Tower Defense genre on ios.
The video from the stream on wednesday is now available on our YouTube channel. Development Stream Part 1 Development Stream Part 2 We are going to be streaming our weekly review meeting at 3:30 pm EST on out Twitch stream if anyone wants to join and ask questions.
I'd go with survivors because the Zombie really looks strong and it is going to be amazing if humans can defeat them (strategically).
Strategy, rpg, tower defense, and mmo aspects all sound like a winning combination. Im sorry but the entire thread tl;dr. So my question is, is it freemium or one time buy? I love the addictive and endless goal attaining of the freemium games however I really cant stand the whole pay to win/freemium business model. I never spend anything on iap. However, I would gladly pay a monthly subscription premium for one of these games if they removed the iap and balanced equal oppurtunity to obtain or farm what would essential be iap items and or effects/bonuses. Freemium rant aside this game looks very interesting and ill definately be giving it a shot.
Our art director Damon did some painting on Twitch on wednesday and we just posted the video to YouTube.
Subscriptions are an interesting model that we are considering. It is important to us that we can run the game for a long time so we are trying to find opportunities to make sure that players can support the game in a way that makes them happy. Do you play any games on mobile right now with subscriptions? I would be interested to hear what games are doing it well.
Still sticking around here just been quiet on this page lately. I don't think I actually know any mobile games that I've played that charge a subscription if any did you'd think Order and chaos would have done that. It is of course one route but that may put many off I suppose it depends how it's implemented but even still people on iOS are use to free or pay once and get everything. I'd say try a poll but I don't know how many people are tracking the thread?
This does look like a awesome game .. though hearing it may go towards the free side worries me... I am not one for freemium games Sims Freeplay ruined that for me... A free "demo" could be a thought, with a full paid version to buy after a test. Theres some games that do a free version that is iap ridden but then they offer a paid version with no iap and you earn everything ^-^ Example: Coaster Crazy free has the ability to buy iap and coins etc There other one is a paid version called Coaster Crazy Deluxe has no iap and you earn everything fair and square. I have this version and personally was worth the price, longer play times in my opinion..
We did a stream yesterday with two of our engineers hooking up so effects in the game and answering questions about our tech. Thanks to everyone that came by. You can view the videos here: Video 1 Video 2 Video 3 Video 4
I actually just wrote a blog post about this after coming back from spending some time with Valve and learning more about how they think about their free-to-play games. We are looking into ways to make this work as a subscription model and I would love to know if there are any games that people here think do that model well. World Zombination is built to be a MMO and we want to run it for a long time adding new units, cities and other content.
Looks outstanding, have you guys finalized a solution for entering into the game yet? One time purchase or subscription? I can't wait to get my hands on this in a few months.
I think One time purchase it's The best, but then depend on The sale, how many downloads,i buy only premium games, cause it's The only model i want..
We are going to be streaming our weekly update in about an hour. Feel free to come by our Twitch stream and ask us questions. The payment model is still something we are trying to figure out, because we want to run this game for a long time it means that a one time purchase doesn't really work because we will be consistently updating the game.
If be consistently updating the game the one time purchase doesn't work,or work only if you have users spread to all The friends on FB,TWITTER,all The social,on gamecenter how good it's you're game, also work strictly with Apple,be' in some featured GAME on App Store, but most of The time it's not enough,A free to' play with an optional premium IAP can make happy either The premium user(one time purchase)and the users who don't buy game=free to play,freemium,paytowin..
Hey. I received an email from you asking my opinion abou the game so here goes. First off. Please don't do free to play. Or if u do. Make it like free for first level then buy the game for $1.99 for the rest. As for the game itself it looks very high quality. That being said: gameplay is more important than good graphics to me. But if you can have both that would be great. If you're going to do an epic real time strategy game my best suggestion would be to do like the original Warcraft games. Specialized units and then maybe one hero unit. And they all need upgrade able powers. It would be really neat to see this for both the human and zombie factions. Mission based and all that. So that's my opinion. I truly wish you the best on your game project!
