Always tricky to assess these digital conversions. Wings of Glory was designed as a tabletop game; all about collecting the miniatures, ground mats etc and setting everything up on a table. Then taking time to plot each move by placing maneuver cards, using the distance ruler, checking firing arcs, applying damage markers and all that good stuff.
Going digital loses 90% of this activity. All that’s left is choose 3 cards each round, press the activate button, and that’s pretty much it. The computer does all the calculation and movement. Kind of empty experience by comparison.
The best thing about digital though is that it’s as cheap as chips! With real aircraft miniatures costing up to $100 each it’s a great way to sample how the system works. Dire Wolf have done a fine job implementing the rules including the advanced options. Graphics show all the info needed. Just not sure the result is sufficiently dynamic for a mobile game.
