I could see how first time players who never played the PC version, might get frustrated by this game. While the iOS version certainly tries to make it more accessible, it's about as SIM as you'll get on the platform. Seeing a lot of posts about guys having a tough time, so I'll offer some advise that will increase survivability rate by decreasing your odds of being a target: Don't go lone wolf, hunt in packs. Don't rush, let some other fool be spotted first. Don't break camo until you have a clean shot. Above all else, don't cap first, let the other team try first
Sticking with you allies is important to archiving a victory you will have a better chance of fighting in groups. In a match if there is a higher tier tank on my team then I will follow him
Allow me to share with you some of my greatest accomplishments in this crazy game. The tiny red icon in the column to the far left indicates that I fragged the player. Six out of seven fragged by me. I'm actually going boast and say that I have become pretty good at this game
Okay... The stupid file upload feature of this forum won't allow me to upload more than one file. Hope you don't mind that I show you one more. Here's another six out of seven enemy players fragged. :-D I have many more screens but I don't want to spam this thread. :-D
I finally gave this one a go, and it's pretty cool so far. I have no experience with the PC or any other version, but I think as long as you know you're usually going to come out ahead from a battle, it's not a big deal if you lose. I'm not sure if that changes later on, but I feel like even if I get slaughtered, I still end up getting more coins than it takes to replenish my ammo. I could see myself paying out gold coins for a premium day or two if I get really into it, but for now, it's a lot of fun.
So premium is way too expensive in my opinion especially with how unnecessary it is. $5 a month would be digestible. However I just spent my 10 monthly ios allowance I give myself on coins so I could buy a bunch of garage slots and I'm ok with that. Not like me to blow my wad on one game like this but I'm playing it like crazy and I'm glad I don't have to sell off every tank to progress. After buying ten garage slots, I have about 1200 gold left over I'm not sure what to do with. Spending it on a few days of premium seems a waste...maybe I'll save it to convert free exp from the one prem tank I bought. Or just buy another 5 garage slots. Shrug. I wish I had some friends playing it, but even if I did...matches are so fast and furious I'm not sure if even end up getting into many games with them. I'm really loving this game. I'm surprised it doesn't have more activity on this thread, way less than even your avg freemium gem matching game. People are missing out.
Definitely use it to convert xp on mastered tanks. I cannot recommend that enough. I have loads of tanks as well and I'm not too sure if it was the right tactic. I've decided that focusing on a particular is more productive and the converting of xp comes in a lot handier there. With all the tanks I have, half are mastered fully so I'm converting their xp to the free xp and using that to master the tech tree with the KV1 in it to get to the top tier tank in that tree which seems to be the best tank in the game. Can't remember its name but its a beast. Keep what you consider the best single tank in each yore would be what I'd recommend. It allows you play any tier. Keeping too many tanks has caused me to lose focus on levelling up my tech trees. And whatever you do, keep the KV1. It is definitely the best tier 5 tank. Also, when you run out of gold, most of the xp earned on mastered tanks is bit of a waste assuming you have the next tank in that tree. More of it still goes to free xp but not all of it so it would be better to be earning it on unmastered vehicles. There is a huge variety in that, really tough question to answer, but it very much depends on the barrel you are using. The easiest thing is when you are buying the shells according to the barrel you have equipped, the average stats for the shells are on the left. So depending on your play style choose accordingly. One type of shell is always better at penetration than another while the other shell can be better at HP damage. Don't bother with the ones that can be purchased with gold (or converted to high in game currency price). I'm averaging 4 kills per match (managed a dew 7 kills when all my team was gone in a KV1, which was very funny) without ever using those expensive shells. Generally I'll use armour piercing for initial penetration damage and high explosive to finish them off but certain barrels do huge damage with explosive. For example, I have a tier 3 M2 medium with a short barrel and high explosive and its a beast. Problem is range dispersion is high so at long range, it misses a lot so its a close range gun. So it's very much a choice as to whether you're a close range or short range player. High explosive barrels and shells are better at close range but armour piercing for long range. Now bear in mind, there is a lot of variety in barrels and shells which combined with play style can make some choices better or worse so that is only a general guideline rule as to what I say. KV1. Without a doubt. It is a slow and heavy tank so if you enjoy gunning around the place, it probably won't be one you'd like but it is heavily armoured and at mastered level, very accurate and powerful in the tier 5 class. It's even competitive in tier 6, only barely but still. So far, the best I've come across are Tier 3. M2 medium. 75mm Howitzer M3 barrel. Can be a one hit killer at medium range to other tier 3's. Weak sides and back. Tier 4. T40. 105 mm AT Howitzer barrel. Huge damage and a fast tank to get away when in trouble. Don't get caught near an enemy with it or it'll be over for you. Tier 5. KV1. Fully mastered with highest level available gun. Very heavily armoured but very weak tracks and rear. Very slow. It is the best in the game so far. Tier 5. An alternative to the KV1 would be the M4 Sherman. 105mm M4 barrel. It works with a very different play style. Its a fast tank and can run around enemies but its a very powerful barrel. Sides of the tank are very weak and front is not even that strong but if you keep moving and hit your enemies, you will cause them a lot of trouble. Tier 5. Another alternative for this tier is the Stug III. 10,5 CM StuH 42 barrel. Hig impact explosive damage. Good front end protection. Weak everywhere else. But fast and very good at hiding due to its low build. Tier 6. M4A3EB. 76 mm barrel. Good fast tank. Weaker sides but a pretty good choice if you keep moving. Tier 6. kV 1S. Should be good but for some reason I just didn't take to that tank. It strong and has all the qualities but it just wasn't one I liked too much. Slow reload might have been the problem, not sure. Tier 6. VK 36.01 H. 8,8 CM KW.K. 36 barrel. Decent fire rate with decent damage and good mobility. Still weak in comparison to IS. Tier 6. An alternative is the T29. Haven't quite. As termed it yet but it has a lot of potential. Tier 7. IS. 122mm D-25T barrel. Very slow reload. But if you hit an enemy, you're the winner. Tier 8. IS3. Another not mastered one but a lot of potential. Dunno about the rest yet but so far the is8 and is7 seem excellent. The T54, T32, M46 Patton and M103 look like they could be excellent choices as well for the nest level up. For now I'm sticking with the tree that will get me the IS7. After that I'm chasing the T110E5 because it seems like it might be a king beater. (disclaimer. Wrote that post very quickly and was going on my own feelings towards certain tanks and my own tactics so could be woefully inaccurate for some people's style of play)
What happens when you fill up your garage slots? I assume you can choose to replace tanks as you upgrade through the tiers, but are you able to rebuy old tanks if you want to go back?
You can buy any tank you researched at any time , only predisposition is avaliable tank slot for it. Tank slots can be bought with gold; premium tanks get tank slot for them for free.
Thanks for the tips, on that and the tanks. I've got all the Tier 3 tanks for US and Germany and now that I have the garage slots, all the Tier 2 for Russia. I don't see the point of following only one tree path, as the whole point of having multiple garage slots is jumping into a new tank right away when you get blown up. I'm going to go down all trees at once. In the long run I'll get all the tanks unlocked whether I do them all at once or one tree at a time...and having more options will keep me from getting bored. My current favorite tank is the BT-2. Its a wimp, but man o man, something awesome about catching air in a tank. That thing hauls. Do we have a Toucharcade platoon? I'm Nonstickron in the game.
That's fair enough. You're own option is actually a good one as well but for some reason I have a strong desire to get the tier 10 Russian IS7 and am taking the quickest route. Of course once I've done that, I'll have to come back and do what you're doing for the other tech trees so perhaps I may have to adjust my strategy again. I'm pretty close to that IS7 though but I'd have great difficulty finding a match with it at the moment so I think I'll have to adjust again. No, we've no platoon. It never came up but it wouldn't be a bad idea at all if others were up for it.
Fully upgraded BT-2, 100% mobility and light weight...zooming around the map playing scout...is a lot of fun.
Game Impressions Lovely game!!! Totally hooked to it but there is an occasional game crash when you try to sell one of your existing tanks. Hope it's possible to make a bigger platoon in future version!
Got a couple of those myself. It's been looked at. It was a bit of a bigger issue on an earlier version but it appeared to be resolved for this build. It seems it wasn't fully so it is being looked at closer again and will be sorted.
I have all the tier 3 vehicles and while I don't know what the "best" is, cycling through them I seem to be having the most success in the Panzer III.
