As predicted earlier (topic) WordPop! is now out.

The aim is to make as much words as possible.

The gameplay is simple: tiles used to make a word are eliminated from the board. If you empty a board a new one is generated. Bonus tiles are given depending on the game difficulty (right slot). There's a rotate bottom that chances the tiles position if you get stuck (round button, at right/bottom). If you can form a valid word and don't have bonus tiles to help you out then you can tap "Quit" to end the game.

If you know English language try Hard for a quicker play.

    PROS
    - Version for iPhone rather than just a port
    - High quality graphics, sounds and animations
    - 3 difficulty levels well balanced
    - Only valid words enables the enter/check button
    - Bonus tiles
    - Undo
    - High Score and Best Words tracking
    - In-game tips and help
    - Basic preferences including disable sound
    - Resumes a game

    CONS
    - Tiles could be a little bigger IMO, tho it was not a problem while playing
    - You have to "Quit" in order to end a game

    WISHES
    - Bigger tiles size
    - A time based mode for a quick play
    - An option to move tiles if you tilt right/left
    - Online high score

All in all it's a great game that I've enjoyed for some years in my old Palm devices.

    It's $1.99 until 5th Jan.

My rating would be 4/5+ (yes almost, almost 5/5). :)

Personally I like Scrabble more than anything else when it comes to Word games.

I like Scrabble too! But it's always nice to play something different... :)

    sounds good - cheers Carlos,

at the moment, I'm getting lots of replay value with WordsWorth

I haven't even moved on to bigger grid or word size yet and it's still hyper-addictive

I'll keep WordPop in mind though - in case WordsWorth ever pales

And ends up wasting more money on other word games when we can get it all on Scrabble.

All right we get it, you like Scrabble. :D

But that's not mean everyone in the world likes it as you do. In addition, I'm not even sure if Scrabble is available worldwide...

I'm an old fan of the game, since Palm days.

I really enjoy it. I like Hard mode because it ends up as a quick play for me (bonus tiles are really hard to get).

Tho WordWorth is very polished I still like WordPop! more.

Right now I have the following word games installed: Scrabble, Wurdle and WordPop!

Back in my Palm days just WordPop! and Scrabble.

Finally I've tried to describe the WordPop! gameplay so it may help you.

    Feedback is Good!

    Hey gang,

I'm the primary engineer for Smart Box Design and I'm glad to hear some good comments about our iPhone version of WordPop! Please do pass along some feedback and let us know what new things you'd like to see.

We intend to be active in adding and updating features with this app even as we work on new games. I'll try to keep with the forums here, too, to answer questions when I can.

    Thanks!

I bought WordWorth on the strength of some of the recommendations here, and found it, quite honestly, a little boring. No doubt that it is a nicely made title, but 2 out of my first 3 games - each with a different sized grid, I had to quit the game because I thought they would never end. I scored something like 70,000 each time and was bored. I think the game gives you too much time when you form a word and is too quick to add time back. I need something more like wurdle where the time runs out.

I'm thinking about WordPop based on Carlos's review, but am gun shy after the WordWorth.

Welcome to the forum! I've made my suggestions and I know you're already considering them.

I think tilt left/right to move tiles needs a better explanation and I'll do it ASAP.

I thought the same about WordWorth, tho it's a very polished game. One game was taking too many time. It needs better balance.

Hard mode goes usually fast because it's hard to get a bonus tile (bonus make empty a board easier most of the times). I was able to empty the first board just once after 4 games.

WordPop! hard mode is not that easy IMO.

I wish there was a way to offer refunds if you are not happy. Or free trials. But alas, that is not meant to be at this time. There are other reviews showing up in the store now.

FYI - I am one of the designers of WordPop! and have known Carlos for years. I have always counted on him to give me honest feedback. And we really do want tons of feedback. We have lots of ideas for the game but your feedback helps us decide which ones to do next.

    Haha... :D

I mean hard in WordPop! is not just a label... Anyway I think I should sleep more and write less! :D

Welcome! It's really nice to talk to you again!

    @ All

By the way, I'd like to make clear that I purchased WordPop! based on my Palm experience. I didn't beta tested it nor I won a code or something.
