WordHue is set to release this Saturday, the 29th! Here are a couple pre-release codes... I'll post some more once a new thread gets created in the "released games" forum. MF7LLM4TMF43 94H7J7W7AKE3 7X9YFTP9MJRJ 97MR7H7KJFJJ LLX49RYHM7YM please post here if you use one of them.
Played for a little while -- there is definitely a lot of potential here! I really like the look and feel, and the tactical edge of reusing letters or getting bonus points is a really welcome addition and keeps things interesting. The way you unlock color schemes using unique words is a masterstroke -- I wish more word game creators would do this instead of making you pay! As for issues, sorry, but I did find a few, alas. First, I got a crash once which I can replicate each time (iPhone 5S, iOS 8.4.1): 1) pause game 2) lock screen 3) unlock screen and game will reopen on pause screen 4) hit continue -- game will crash The other issue is with the dictionary, and I think a word game lives and dies by the quality of its dictionary! On the whole it's fine, but I found it odd that I wasn't allowed the word "upon" but I could use the proper name "Dane." I was allowed to enter "Nt," and I have no idea what that is. My only other suggestion is the ability to perhaps confirm a word before submitting, especially on zen mode where you have time. As soon as you lift your finger off the screen (you're covering letters at that moment), you'll enter a word, so the option to see the word and confirm or undo would be nice, just in case you accidentally add something you didn't mean to -- and that's vital here because three-letter words create restrictions on the board.
Thanks for your input! I'll get working on that crash, sounds like it should be easy to fix. The dictionary is a bit of a bummer, it's based off of the wordnet dictionary, which does allow proper nouns and a number of abbreviations. (the abbreviation issue was actually one of the reasons that I added in the short word penalty, to try to discourage their use). Luckily it's easy for me to add words to the dictionary, so "upon" should be there next time you do a clean restart. Thanks!
