    Game is great.
Old school at its finest, loving it.
I’m inside the Pyramid now, tight sessions!!!

As for the controls, they gave me full controls of the UI which is awesome.
After a bit of tinkering I found the perfect position for my hands on iPhone X and it has been a breeze.
I can play the game on other platforms as well (I have it on a Switch) but you know what?
I’m playing it much more now...I don’t have to battle with my son for the Switch, I can just take my iPhone out of my pocket and play it whenever I want.
Is it better with real buttons? Sure, but I find perfectly playable and can’t wait to complete it.
I consider myself a pretty hardcore gamer on any platform and, maybe only one in the world, I LOVE 2D scrollers on iOS even with touch controls.
I could complete many awesome titles on it...from Aquaria to Elysian tail, from Teslagrad to Inside/Limbo and many many more.

Did I mention how glorious it looks on an oled screen?
So many secrets, so many cool details and animations.

Top stuff, and I really feel I robbed the devs.

That’s what normally happened to me, but this and the previous couple preorders showed up for me pretty early. This one showed up on my home screen between 1 and 2pm yesterday. Wonder why it works for some and not for others...

Yeah, agree with others that I use my phone to play games on the go and often in public. I have consoles to play games with controllers. Using one on iOS would defeat the purpose.

And so far controls work great on this one.

Am I the only one who thinks the controls are clunky and terrible? I'm usually not that critical as I always want to encourage games like this on mobile, but find it unplayable.

I tried playing around in settings, but still not great.

Want to love this so any control setting help would be amazing.

    Thanks

Personally I swapped immediately jump and sword, made them tiny and close to the border. I kept special power up in the middle (also tiny).
I moved a bit the joystick and also made it way smaller.

For what is worth my son (10) just noticed the game on iPad (I play it on iPhone) and started a game. He is accustomed to his Switch where he plays always Fortnite and he is midway Cuphead.
He asked me to change controls....he likes jump at bottom and sword immediately on top, while special power on the left. Moved joystick as well, bigger than mine.
He cleared 2 bosses in one run (first intro one and completed beach) on normal. At first try.
I was quite impressed (took me hours).
We also have the game on Switch but he never cared, lol.

One thing to keep in mind is the inertia of the dragon in particular.

    Hope it helps!!!

controls are fine for me, one of the best i've tried.

i've also swapped jump & hit , scaled down and rearranged them as well as the stick.
    now is perfect!

As I’ve mentioned before, you also need to consider that the game still plays like one from 1989. Especially for combat, it’s not like the quick hack and slash of today’s games. Like the example I gave of attacking the head of a boss, that would be a lot easier with more modern games. But the controls here I feel are just as good as if you are playing with a controller.

I had problems thinking they were clunky even on PS4 but these are just the same. Just need to get used to them.

Does this game support cloud saving to continue games across different devices?

Unfortunately no, it’s my only request to the devs if they are reading.

Grabbed this, Very Little Nightmares, and Infectonator 3. Now I have to decide which one to start first.

I’m after a bit of help here people, I’ve got to the village, wandered about and ended up in the apothecary and been offered my first cure shot for free, but I can’t work out how to buy it.
Every time I click on the button to buy I get a beep noise (almost like an error sound), same with the the pointer buttons. In fact the only buttons that respond are inventory and exit.

I don’t know what to do, I’ve only one heart left and I can’t even buy anything cos the only option is to get it free. I feel I must be doing something very obviously wrong but I’ve no idea what it is.

    Can anyone help please?

I’m assuming you have more than 1 heart right?
If I recall well that sound is when you want to buy the cure but you haven’t enough money.

Meanwhile....I AM FINALLY ABLE TO CHANGE FORM AT WILL!!!!
Feels like the same glorious game as before, but on steroids.
And definitely the Metroidvania vibe kicks in.

    What a game!!!

No I’ve only one heart, my fault! When you start you’ve loads haven’t you and when I beat the fella in the castle and turned I only had one heart left so didn’t realise I’d been restricted back to one heart....

Ah ok, yeah after the prologue you have just one heart, but you can have more finding secrets and stuff, don’t worry.
