Jc! I just knew Spear of destiny would follow but too bad they won't bring Castle Wolfenstein over. Wolf RPG sounded interesting from the GDC link. I can't wait to find out more about that.

Castle Wolfenstein was by Muse Software; id don't have the rights to bring it to the iPhone. Wolfenstein 3D was merely inspired by the original. The original Castle Wolfenstein/Beyond IP rights still belong to Muse's owner, Jack Vogt. (Muse packed it in around 1987, but Jack still owns all copyrights.) Besides, if you think the young scrotes who weren't around for the original complain about the graphics in Wolf3D, they'll burst a handful of capillaries going apoplectic over the stick figures in Castle Wolfenstein. :)

This is true. Also the board game did come first in 1984 and I'm sure the young ones wouldn't be too impressed with it.

I have pictures of the original 80's board game somewhere on my HD. Anyone could google it as well. :)

it doesn't offer anything new to the game except more levels and new baddies.

it's equally as fun, but if one didn't like the first one, or just liked the first one so so they won't care for spear because it's almost the same thing

  6. I hadn't heard of the board game, but the original Castle Wolfenstein was released in 1981. Beyond was released in '84.

  7. It's basically the same thing with new levels. Thematically, it was designed as the prequel to Wolfenstein 3D.

well there is obviously interest in these quasi-3d games again. I just had fun going through the quest thread. the more the merrier. just a question though: I've had some trouble adapting to fps controls on the iPhone and in general I think I am just not as good a tamer as others are - how hard is this game for someone who is no newbie but who merely is helpless?

Wow.. I really dont regret buying this game. Its pretty much a perfect port =)

It would be cool if they added a multi-player death match mode.

So I downloaded this for dosbox and am really enjoying it. Is it worth it for 4.99 if I already have it on the comp? (by the way I have no idea if that was legal so I'll delete what I said if it was...) I love the retro goodness and it definitely has the best pure gameplay out of any FPS I've played. What do you guys think?

Use this with moderation or you'll spoil the game. I don't mind using it because you can't pick where you save. I think it's fair.

Tap with four fingers to bring up the console and type "give" and hit enter.

You get 99 ammo and all the guns(you should have all the guns from the first two missions anyhow). You also get the keys, but only for that mission.

Walk up to the 3rd golden swastika on the left, once you are in the large hallway. You will find health, ammunition and a big gun.

After typing give, I cannot get out of that screen and back into the game.
