Best way to support Fugl right now iis to talk about it, either to friends, on social media like twitter or right here! Regarding steam/oculus, I'm happy to say that i've made a deal with BulkyPix to publish Fugl on these platforms. I have also secured a programmer to do the port (and also help me finish up work on the iOS version). I've also asked for more money from the Norwegian Film Instititue to finance this (we already got two rounds of modest financing), and I'l know within a month if it's a hat trick. If not, a kickstarter is at least something to try.
The Way Forward Hello all, There hasn't been any updates lately, I'm sorry for that, but i'd like to talk a little about the road ahead and what is planned as minimum before release: (disclaimer: some features might not work out, as always) Bird - Much more fluid and quicker ground movement - Less akward landings and takeoffs - Hover mode instead of stalling as an option (good for beginners). - Floating/swimming on water - No dying, everything should be recoverable, even if you faceplant and tumble down the mountain and into the water. - Detailed paint on bird, based on interaction with game - Custom pain job on bird - Evolving bird based on which animals are picked up - User selectable custom proportions = custom physics (soaring, flap speed, flap frequency, body weight, air resistance, etc) - Less flapping, maybe even tap to flap (more speed by other means) - Dving pose with tucked wings for added speed Levels - Biome specific clouds - More variation within each level, both in structure and color - A handful more "handmade" levels, like chinese pillars, coral reef, redwood forest, floating islands, ruins - Alien worlds - endless, fully procedural levels with their own flora and fauna (coming sooish). - Portals to travel between different levels - Quicker level generation - A proper windsystem with turbulence, thermals and fun jet-streams Animals - Much more fluid movement for the animals - Flocking for ground animals - Landing/perching/take-off for all birds - Air to ground hunting for predators - More reactive animals to your presence (flee, flock or fight) Sound - Sounds for all animals - Ambient music soundtrack, probably pretty large and level specific - Better wind sounds Thankfully I've brought on a great programmer full-time that will help with all of this, so my plan is still to release in April (this year). If there is any thing you would like see added to this list, or maybe I forgot something, or you strongly disagree about something, please list it below! I'll probably start off by making a few new levels this weekend, since it's been so long since the last update. Cheers, Johan
Hey Johan, sorry in advance for how long this post is. I've had the alpha for a while and I love it. The maps are amazing and the animals provide an interesting challenge. The game is definitely a must-have. Honestly, I think the game is ready to release now. I'd definitely buy it as it is now. That said, here are a few things I'd like to see. First Person Mode I know there's a first person mode available, but I'd like to see it expanded so it isn't swipe camera. The way first person works right now, unless I'm mistaken, is that you have to swipe up and hold it. This means you can't flap in first person mode, so you can only use it for a few seconds. Maybe you can add the option to play the entire game in first person mode--- I think it'd really add to the sense of freedom and exploration that the game already has. More Fluid Perch Movement Once I perch and start walking around, movement becomes somewhat awkward. Turning on the ground is especially tough. I know you're already on planning on changing this, so I'm looking forward to that. Also, I know it's been suggested 1000 times, but I'll say it again: a soundtrack for Fugl. I cannot wait to hear what music this game has in store. And if it's anything like the song from the first Fugl video on YouTube you uploaded a while back, it'll be a knockout
Here are some squirrels coming soon! Also here are some butterflies that could be found a number of biomes...
Hey FuglTeam, nice to see you are still going strong. I dont know if you or other testers agree with me on this, but : What if you prioritise finishing the essentials of the above, release it as a paid app, and then work on the rest of your -super inclusive-that-i-have-nothing-more-to-add-to-list and make the additions as updates / free/paid patches. This way you can release, get some funds, and buy more time while doing so, getting more feedback from a whole lot more players -and then working opn the updates, and releasing them will make everyone even happier -to see they are getting added stuff for what they supported
I'd like to second this. Prolonged waiting period may be a critical timing mistake as gamers are often introduced to other subtitute games each week.
I totally agree! Our release date is end of March/early April, this date is more legit than the ones in the past
Really is a pretty bird. I can't play for a while. My iPhone has broke. # not sure how I'll survive without it.
A Monocolus, this little creature's one leg is super strong, it grabs a lot of attention by its bright yellow head.
