Well, what will you use it for? If it's just for general usage, get a Mac. If you're doing more things like gaming, get Windows 7.
I use my pc for gaming so I'll always be a windows guy. But for a laptop? My brothers macbook pro is about the most beautiful piece of technology I've ever seen. Go with apple for a laptop.
OS aside, if you get a MacBook chances are the battery life will be superior and you'll be able to use it on your lap without it overheating. I frequently have mine resting on the bed and it doesn't go above 50 degrees, my HP laptop on the other hand... would ignite.
Your not going to get fair results asking this question on a website made for apple products. +1 to Windows 7 if you what you're looking for, just shop around and read reviews. But, both have their upsides and downsides (yes, macs aren't perfect to all you fanboys), just don't become a fanboy who hates on windows solely on the fact that it's not mac.
I would say Mac. In my opinion Microsoft is in a death spiral right now. It seems they don't have a clue in what is going on. I rarely ever use my windows computers any more.
As others have said, if you're going to be gaming a lot, get a PC [because gaming is the only [[main]] reason people should get a PC] Macs dominate in everything else. Or if you want to do some light gaming, just get Steam. I've always had a PC in my life for as long as I can remember, I think I've had my Mac for close to a year now, and honestly there's no looking back for me. I just can't deal with Windows OS anymore, it just doesn't flow like a Mac.
At first I thought it only meant OS, and the nod goes to Windows 7 for that... However, a MacBook Pro is amazing.
trust me windows is crap compared to mac os x, and if it truly matters you can bootcamp windows on your mac and use both just get the macbook, you'll be happy you did. (proud owner of 27' iMac, once you go mac you almost never go back)
I can't say one is "better" than the other each OS has stuff the other doesn't, if only I were rich..I'd get both macs are very clean and efficient and actually work perfectly they way they're supposed to, but there's something about it that doesn't sit with me..
You can't run everything under Boot Camp. Just basic stuff, mostly apps and maybe a few games. Spoken like someone who doesn't know how to use one properly. I've been using them for years and have yet to encounter a problem I couldn't overcome (that wasn't hardware-related). Keep in mind I have both Mac and PC before thinking I'm just bashing Apple. Macs are fine but they have quite a ways to go before it's matured enough as a platform to have drawn the kind of support Windows has, and until Apple allows arbitrary hardware upgrades (new video card, sound, etc.) like they used to do back in the Apple ][ days, it's still going to be a closed environment in which you have to wait for Apple themselves to support new hardware, which for me is unacceptable.
I saw some videos of people playing mw2 and crysis on a macbook pro (with bootcamp). thats possible right?
hey it takes common sense to use windows people use everyday in school as do I but windows is just ten years ago and is slow, buggy, and a pain, don't hate on people who have macs because you are afraid to switch(which is retarded) or are just poor/jealous, that's not my fault. we control the major outcomes of our future and I'm sorry if the recession hit you hard but you shouldn't blame other people for that it's not my fault so stop hating.
if you think about it, it takes more momey fixing garbage pcs, or buying new ones, than it does just buying a mac once and it working fine, and sorry to offend anyone about money problems we all have them, but you can't hate just because your life isn't going right and you have little money. you don't have to be rich to buy a mac. I'm really not. This mac vs PC argument is one that will last for many years that is for sure.
His post had nothing to do with the cost of a Mac..He was talking about how he doesn't like that you can't replace hardware in a Mac like you can a PC. Read more carefully next time, because you just made yourself sound like an ass.
