Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel That looks... really tiny, I can't get any impressions from that, good or bad. Will await for a proper video. And is the main character autorunning once you press a direction? Or were they using the buttons to move?
In the first video the game looks more like an autorunner with the player pushing different buttons to react to different obstacles, but the guy in the second video appears to be holding the "up" button to make the character run forward. Hopefully the developers will elaborate on what's going on a bit more clearly than the videos do.
Love it! You guys using Unity? The textures look blurry, and I was wondering if it was one of three things: -is this a stylistic choice? -are the texture's low res? -or, this can be messed with more easily, are there mipmapping settings that can be changed/turned off to add some crispness back in? Overall art style is nice. Looking forward to seeing more!
Not quite, but we're getting very, very close. A few folks who were paying close attention to Google's Galaxy Nexus presentation yesterday noticed an interesting icon on some of the screens... I think you're seeing compression in the images we uploaded. Our textures are extremely high resolution--larger than we can actually display on iDevices, in some cases.
Today we launched Wind-up Knight for Android. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.robotinvader.knightmare Don't worry, iOS will follow shortly. We have a bit of clean up to do still on the iPhone side (mostly UI related), and it's very simple to ship and iterate on Android, so that version went out first. If you have a (good, high-end) Android device, give it a shot. Since you guys had a bunch of questions about how it works, I'm happy to answer them now. Here's some (fairly old, but instructive) footage from the alpha version of Wind-up Knight. We'll have a proper trailer very soon. video Cheers, Chris
I found Wind Up Knight via a google search for Wind Up games. Very cool. I am surprised there are not more windup genre games around. I am looking forward to playing it and the art is very well done. If I had not left my droid x at the office I would be playing the game tonight.
Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel It's just an endless runner with more maneuver/ action buttons. Looks pretty cool though.
It's certainly not endless--there are 52 unique, individually designed, modeled, and textured levels in the game. Each is designed to be short but deviously challenging. Sorry I failed to insert the video correctly--thanks for fixing that.
Okay, so it's a running game with more action buttons than usual, as opposed to a platformer with complete control. Still looks good though, and 52 levels is a lot. Hopefully the level variety will include switching up direction as well (left and right, up and down within single levels). Any ETA as to when this comes out?
So, I completed the game yesterday on Android, yes, with an 's' on all levels. Let me be the first to say, Turnover is NOT Fair Play! Lol. A few things. First, really? No ending? I DON'T save the princess? And second, I think the jump to grab the card on level 3-1 is impossible immediately after killing the bird; I had to grab an Angel Helm so I could run back and make a clear jump. Finally, other than those complaints, you guys did an amazing job. 5 star platformer!
