Seeing that the sequel is free(mium) is sad. Downloading now TheFrost Well-Known Member Nov 18, 2010 5,772 0 0 #3 TheFrost, Apr 9, 2014 Oh yes!!!! The first one is completely amazing, well worth the 5$ is asks you for it, will be insta-downloading this right now from my NZ account kmacleod Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Jul 1, 2009 1,865 1 36 Artist / Writer / Designer California https://www.afterpad.com #4 kmacleod, Apr 9, 2014 I hope the monetization strategy doesn't kill this game, because it looks really outstanding. The first was a lot of fun TheFrost Well-Known Member Nov 18, 2010 5,772 0 0 #5 TheFrost, Apr 9, 2014 So far the only IAP I see are coins to buy gear, 2$ for 5,000, 6$ for 15,000 18$ for 50,000 and 40$ for 150,000 coins. This time around it isnt chapter oriented, now sports a map like in Shellrazer with lots of missions and 3 objectives per mission. The rest of the game feels really unadulterated. The same pure joy type of gameplay from the first one. Proper impressions to follow soon. sink_or_swim Well-Known Member Feb 4, 2012 3,504 5 38 Germany #6 sink_or_swim, Apr 9, 2014 it looks and plays fantastic. Lot of replay value with side quests for each level and lots of achievements! There's now a tournament mode where you have to collect as many diamonds as possible. You have to use a ticket to play this mode and you can buy tickets with coins and coins for real money. You can also get new armor for your knight which seem to be expensive There's also a "full game" unlock for $4.99 (special offer). You get 1000 coins, 15 tickets and a special armor. What bothers me is that you can't play tournament mode as many times as you want, even if you bought the full game. With 15 tickets you can play only 15 games. And if you die you can revive yourself with tickets :/ JCho133 Well-Known Member Jul 27, 2012 7,907 27 48 #7 JCho133, Apr 9, 2014 I never really enjoyed the first one, despite the praise, and as much as I wanted to enjoy it. I'll definitely give it another shot with this one though Biggavelli Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2011 1,106 0 0 Boston,MA #8 Biggavelli, Apr 9, 2014 This is a must (the first ones Classic)... Keeping an open mind on the freemium stuff. sink_or_swim Well-Known Member Feb 4, 2012 3,504 5 38 Germany #13 sink_or_swim, Apr 9, 2014 I've only played the first 5 levels and I'm absolutely blown away by this. There's so much replay value here. 1. complete the level 2. complete the level and get all coins for A-Rank 3. 3 different side quests in each level 4. if you complete #2 you can replay each level to find a hidden hat and that gives you a S-Rank Not mentioning that there's an "endless mode" aswell (collect as many diamonds as you can). But I'm still unsure about the tickets and revives in this mode. nemerleb Well-Known Member Jan 19, 2013 544 0 0 #14 nemerleb, Apr 9, 2014 The thing about the first one is it's free, and you can only get later levels for free if you Aced all previous levels. This is what freemium games should be like; here's our game, play it fully for free if you're skilled and motivated enough, or pay up to unlock it without the challenge. Mr. Grizzly Well-Known Member May 20, 2011 1,407 0 36 #15 Mr. Grizzly, Apr 9, 2014 As far as the timed in-game sale goes, redownload it to get the half price sale if you find you really like the game. I'm sure the game is worth replaying a few levels from scratch if you plan on buying it. I'm going to do that as soon as I can download it tonight. I am also debating replaying the first one and paying to unlock the full game. Can anyone remember the price? I originall purchased the game when it first came out - before it went freemium. Trying to play through and unlocking the levels with ingame coins seems to severely limit my options for buying the ingame equipment, so am debating whether to go this route - also, if I do buy it and down the road need to redownload it or put it on another device, I am assuming there is a "restore purchases" option. shodanng Well-Known Member Apr 2, 2009 294 0 0 #16 shodanng, Apr 9, 2014 So is it the same for this second game? May I unlock full game without IAP? shodanng Well-Known Member Apr 2, 2009 294 0 0 #17 shodanng, Apr 9, 2014 https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wind-up-knight/id482869428?mt=8 Note 2: If you bought Wind-up Knight before its price was changed to FREE on February 22, 2012, make sure to beat the first level before updating to this version so that the content you paid for remains unlocked. nemerleb Well-Known Member Jan 19, 2013 544 0 0 #18 nemerleb, Apr 9, 2014 Well I havn't downloaded the game yet, but judging from the screenshots and people here, it seems you get like 30 min of "demo" time, then it'll cost 5$ I guess? chrispruett Well-Known Member Aug 30, 2011 49 0 0 Chief Taskmaster at Robot Invader http://robotinvader.com #19 chrispruett, Apr 10, 2014 No, that's not how it works. There are two modes: the main mode and Tournament Mode. The main mode is the main quest, and it includes eight levels that can be played for free. Each level has a basic mission and then three side missions, so theres a whole lot more than 30 minutes of play here. The Tournament Mode operates on different rules, but it's not related to the unlock. Levels that appear in Tournament Mode come from both the free and the paid portions of the game, but Tournament Mode itself is free (well, you spend tickets to play, but we give tickets to you every day). If you wanted, you could ignore the main mode and just play Tournament mode forever for free, and you would see all of the content in the game (eventually). But it's a different type of challenge. There's also a 50% discount ($3.99 USD) if you decide to unlock the game in the first 30 minutes. If not, the price to unlock is $8.99 USD. This gives you time to play and see if you think it's worth it or not. Unlocking gets you a bunch of coins, a bunch of tickets, an exclusive suit of armor, and the entire rest of the game (total of 42 levels). Hope that makes sense! nemerleb Well-Known Member Jan 19, 2013 544 0 0 #20 nemerleb, Apr 10, 2014 It does! Thanks for clearing things up to everyone here. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
