After watching EA's bit on Medal of Honor at Gamescom (which is going on LIVE right now, click here to watch), it looked cool in concept, but the framerate was laggy and the graphics were terrible in the trailer with the consultants. So, will you buy Medal of Honor? Yes, No, or Maybe?
Maybe. I'll wait until it's been out for like a week and read the reviews before buying. I've heard bad things from people who played the beta.
It was dull. A bad mixture of MW2 and BFBC2. I think it was the pacing that got me (the whole rush to get killstreaks madness) and it claimed that it was supposed to be more "Tactical" but it was no more tactical than MW2. The map was too small to be "Tactical" lmao. I dunno it just felt really generic.
What Booch said. I've only seen videos on YouTube, each of which have loads of comments underneath about how it's nothing like MW2, which is ridiculous because it has tons of similarities. A quick glance at it and someone could quite easily mistake it for a MW2 match.
I'm just tired of everyone trying to add a new twist or take to the military genre. I get that the competition between companies is great for the consumer, but military FPSs are getting tired. No matter the quality of MoH, I'll spend my money on something that actually catches my eye.
It looks like a decent game, although nothing new or innovative. I'll probably pass on it initially, then pick it up after prices have gone down. As of now, the only shooters I'll be getting are Black Ops and Halo: Reach, the latter of which I already know I'll enjoy. Aside from those, I think my money would be better spent on more original games like Dead Rising 2, Assasin's Creed: Brotherhood, or going back and getting games like Lost Odyssey.
LOL! I find this hilarious! A couple of years ago all everyone could do was complain about sci-fi and how they was SO SICK of space marines, now a couple of military shooters are popular (COD4 & MW2) and everyone hates. I got an idea... how about somebody make an original FPS? Like something set in an art deco world, under water, with lots of creepy people and guys in diving suits to shoot? Oh wait... Bioshock sales = 3 million vs. Modern Warfare 2 sales = 20 million. I guess the people have spoken on what they really want. (BTW, I LOVE Bioshock and sci-fi more than military. I'm just pointing out that people bitch but the reality is the people that bitch aren't the people spending money anyway).
I bitch and I'm probably spending more money than anyone in this topic. I don't think it's hilarious that people have preferences (and occasionally change their preferences) either.
I totally forgot about Crysis... If it's as good as I remember Crysis being on my friend's computer, I'll probably pick it up. Also, why are we judging a game so much based on a multiplayer beta? There's a chance that it could be made more interesting by release (although I doubt it), and we still don't know how the single-player campaign is. Until I see the final version, I won't judge much, although I'm not very intrigued as is.
No need to buy it, I get free games from EA but if I did have to buy it I wouldn't. Beta was pretty horrible. Hope the SP is done right. Still think it's stupid that Dice made the MP, why couldn't the main studio do it? dice just gave us a shitty version of Bad Company. And SP and MP are going to play a lot differently, which is dumb. What if I really like the feel of SP, but I beat the game? Well, there's no replayability now is there.
MP and SP always feel totally different to me. If I finished a campaign and wanted more I wouldn't look to the MP since it's all pretty much the same crap these days.
Well i'm talking more about the feel of the game. Like how CoD and BFBC feel different. I'm saying what if I like the feel that the single player provides, and want this same experience in MP, but when I play MP it feels like BFBC. That's stupid in my opinion.
I dont complain or hate on Military games at all (I play BFBC2 avidly for gods sake) I just complain about MW2 cause... well I simply didn't like it, especially vs. CoD4 and WaW. The maps were terrible and the community was even worse. You have to face the facts though man, it's near impossible to make an original FPS game anymore. One game that caught my originality meter was Borderlands, not because of the story necessarily, but because of the RPG twist to it. The RPG genre is my favourite, and FPS comes in a close 3rd or 4th, but when you mix the 2 together, I go nuts (Like I did with FO3). And I only trashed the Sci-Fi FPS genre (or at least the Halo series) because ODST was promised to be awesome and it wasn't. I loved 1-3, hated ODST and Reach is also one I was on the fence about. But it looks very promising.
I'd rather buy the game Singularity than MoH. IMO, it just looks better. MoH looks like it tried to rip off BF BC 2 using the original dev team while adding MW 2 elements. Blegh.
I think renting both games for the campaign will be more than enough for me. I'm waiting for Battlefield 3
I'll wait for the reviews, but with the new CoD coming in a less than 3 months, I'll probably go for that instead. EA is always trying to cash in with games like this. They came out with Battlefield just to try and steal some CoD fans/addicts. I know the original Medal of Honor series came before CoD, but CoD is just better. EA's attempt to outdo CoD has failed so far.
