Please vote in the poll, say why or why not you will be buying the new iPhone 3GS and any other comments related to the iPhone 3GS.

I'm pretty much certain to get one, the main reason being for the extra capacity.

I went from an 80GB iPod to an 8GB 1st-gen iPhone, and I sorely miss the space for all my videos...

I'm very curious to know how much it will cost in the UK though...

Not if they are going to charge me $499.00 for it. I bought a iPhone 3G the first day and my contract of 2 years isn't over and they would make me pay the unsubsidized price

Yes, I think the increase in memory is one of the main reasons to get one, 32GB is good with all of these new apps. Just browsing through eBay's new unlocked/jailbroken iPhone 3G's and they are very overpriced. It will be interesting to see remain on there for a while, when the new iPhone comes out for cheaper. I was lucky and managed to buy my original iPhone for £200 new, jailbroken and unlocked on eBay.

    Ouch...

I think in the future, if I buy a new iPhone (or iPod Touch), I will use it as a iPod Touch without the phone. Maybe find an unlocked one on eBay. Then I would buy a cheap £50 mobile phone to use as a phone, and have all the media, games etc on the iPhone/iPod Touch. I know it defeats the whole object of having the iPhone as a phone, lol, but it would save a whole lot of money on those pricey contract fees.

Well seeing as how I skipped upgrading to the 3G intentionally for this ver. I guess I might as well, I was really hoping for a matte finish though. But the addition of video, and voice features, with the bigger hard drive I'm sure to get it.

I can make do with the original iPhone I have. It has everything I need, and most importantly it is good as a portable console - it runs apps well, and also feels more comfortable to hold, being a bit fatter. I think I will wait until the next iPhone with some more features, because right now I'm saving up for a new motorcycle :p.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I have heard that in order to upgrade from an iPhone 3G to an iPhone 3GS, you have to pay an extra $300. So $300 + $199 = $499. But that is just for the 16 GB version. If you want the 32 GB, then it is $299 which brings the total to $599.

    Def not.

If you purchased the iPhone 3G within a year to a year, they are charging you the full $399 for 16gb and $499 for 32GB. I would have instantly jumped if I got the reduced price.

The new iPhone is not worth 499 in IMO. The iPhone 3G can do 90% of what the new iPhone can do. Bad move by apple and AT&T. For some reason I dont see this as an apple move, I see this as an AT&T move. I can't stand any Wireless carrier in the world. They are all crooks. Pffffft....

Yup, would have been in line the first day to buy it at $199 but not at the full price. That's crazy asking for the $499/$599. I can cancel my contract, pay the fee, and buy a 2 year contract for $199 and pay less! Ridiculous.

Look at the last iPhone. People were waiting in line for iPhone 3g and I was 1 of them. I dont mind paying the $299.99. I mean for god sakes $499? I can buy a mac min for 599. Tell me how that makes any sense at all.

This is so rediculous. I plan on calling Apple's CR and talking to them about this stupid decision

I love my iPhone 3G but as of late I'm feeling a bit of a pinch on the 8 gigs I have. Eventually, by the end of the year, I'll probably upgrade.

Really, what is different with the iPhone 3Gs?

Apart from a video camera, nothing really. All those things mentioned at the conference today can be achieved by jailbreaking.

I'm gunna hold out till next year :) And maybe beyond. Apple have the market at the moment, who knows what will be out in a year!
