We will have a website up shortly with a mailing list. If you are interested in being part of the beta, follow us on our Facebook Page for info on that. We will also be posting all the little details to TouchArcade but we don't want to bloat the thread with Beta Invitation requests.
We honestly don't know which month we will release. This is our biggest game yet so we want to make sure it is incredibly well done first! We are close, but can't make any promises quite yet
sounds interesting. surviving for seven days in the wild could be challenging. waiting for the launch!
This looks like an absolute blast.. If you guys are looking for beta testers sign me up.. Edit: just followed you on fb.. Do you guys have a Twitter account, I'm on there much more than fb these days?.. Edit 2: did I mention this games looks like a blast? ##
Oh yeah! Not much yet but we will be posting a lot over the next few weeks and months. https://twitter.com/Wild_Wastes
Hmmm.... Lots? Depends how you define them. A lot of guns can be "modded" and crafted making them like new. If you add a laser sight, extended clip, and scope onto a desert eagle, it's essentially a new gun.
I should be more specific. The different characters start with their own weapons and more can be found in game. We have varmint rifles, sniper rifles, small handguns, huge revolvers, Assault Rifles, flamethrowers, various bombs/grenades, and throwing weapons like hatchets and knives.
Mobile is definitely in our blood as a studio, so no, mobile is not a low priority. PC and PS4 are 2 platforms we have never done anything on so we focused on that first so we can make a game great on all platforms rather than the notion of us bringing a "mobile game" to PC since there are some people who won't take it seriously.
Oh, I hear you. The stigma attached with mobile gaming on other platforms is simultaneously uneducated but also valid as its based in the general trends associated with the app store. Hope this game catapults you onto bigger and better things!
There is no random generation in Wild Wastes. I will have a cool map comparison to show you. The town is based in a real world location with an overhead map matching the building placements. We did this to make it feel more like a "real" town, more or less.
As much as I love procedurally generated content, meticulously designed maps and encounters have their own merits. What you lose in replay value you gain in a much tighter and focused campaign. I'm all for a well designed map in lieu of randomly generated worlds.
I kinda misspoke earlier. While the world is meticulously designed in regards to layout and "building" locations, many of the buildings and random encounters are randomly generated to give a new experience each playthrough. One playthrough you might find a row of houses in the west with some starving survivors in need of help. In another playthrough, those "buildings" could be a trailer park overrun with a drug-dealing gang of hoodlums.
