Why are some apps called such weird names? Like for example, QUANDRUM:Colors. What's Quandrum? But anyway the main (don't make fun of) question. I wanna get bike or die for my brother. But what's up with the "die" part? Is there any violence or killing? Or is it bike or die falling down? Thanks!

The Latin word Quadrum means square in English and it's close to "quadrado" in some languages such as Portuguese.

I think you have a nice explanation regarding Bike or Die meaning.

At this point I think I'd find awkward not to see unusual names for applications and games, it's kind of part of internet "thing".

Unfortunately SEGA doesn't have to have any sales/discounts on SMB. It's still in the top 100!!! How, I don't know, but the fact that it still is in the top 100 means you will not be seeing a sale on this one for a long while....

I'm guessing it is a take-off of the old Skate or Die title. Nobody dies, its just an expression! Like if you're not skating you might as well be dead.

    What's an Arknoid?

Years ago Google was one of the weirdest names out there.

    Now it's a verb.

Actually... A Googol already was a number... 1 followed by a hundred zeros... that's where they got the name...

skate or die, bike or die
or in new hampshire...Live free or die

but no, its trying to build off that brand
and the iphone version is just using the name of the flash version

there is no violence, or dying per say..

The "die" part is just what it sounds like.

Originally it was a phrase used by hardcore skaters back in the 80's. Basically it meant that if you were unable to skate then you would die on the inside. It was tattooed on hundreds and hundreds of people back then.

Then a game came out called Skate or Die for a ton of consoles including the Apple II and Commodore 64. (it was also mentioned in Rock Band)

So as this is the bike version it is called Bike or Die.

As for the violence: There is none. The game is rated 4+ on the app store so there won't be anything more than the rider falling. If you want to explain ro him what the title means, just tell him it means that biking is a way of life for some people and leave it at that.

    Hope that helps!

Only thing I have to say is I think you still have to be careful with App Store ratings. I don't know if there is any app that's rated more than 4+
If my memory serves me correct, the poker and casino games are rated 4+ due to mild gambling!?! Mild gambling? It's a freakin' gambling game/app!! How can it be mild when that's all there is to do????
Anyways, just a side note on my part but great explanations and lessons in history... :)
