i have a free app UGreetings, but the rate is very low, as there are so many 1 star reviews. the problem is, I know there are something not good to satisfy the customers, but there is no comments left to tell me which part need to improve...:(

Any one meet the same issues?

I`m not a dev, but I think it`s coz of the fact that people get an option to rate an app when they delete it form their iDevice. Now if someone is going to delete an app then he probably didnt like it in the first place and is going to rate it low. Those who like it are going to keep it in their iDevices but with so many apps in the iPhone one rarely takes out the time and goes to appstore, search for the app and rate it with a high ranking. Its just too much work IMO.

So it`s basically apple`s fault as it made it ridiculously easy to rate an app for those who dont like it while making it a much less desirable process for those who do like the app. So unfortunately, your ratings will always be skewed until apple comes out with a change in this process.

I would also point out that your app looks targeted at a younger audience, one that is less likely to take the time and thought to give unbiased reviews or feedback.

I also find that lite versions are almost ALWAYS rated lower than full versions. When people rate an app, they kinda just make a snap judgement on how useful/entertaining the app was. And lite versions always do worse b/c their functionality is intentionally limited.

I always rate 5 stars because I know some people rate it low for no reason.
And I hate the people who give bad reviews for the worst reasons.

The other 2 posts are valid explanations, and I'd like to add a 3rd:

Your app is FREE. Anybody can download it and leave a review. There are actually people out there that leave 1 star reviews simply for the sake of lowering your game while raising theirs.

Don't expect any viable feedback from them, I doubt they even played the game.

my game Flickitty has a horrible star rating for the free version, despite all the positive talk about the game.

As odd as the current appstore feature is, where Apple makes it easy to review an app being deleted, it's arguably still better than their first two passes at user reviews.

It used to be possible to review apps that you haven't even bought/downloaded.

Reviews used to be artifically high, because people disliking an app and deleting it would be unlikely to bother taking the time to post a review.

The rate-on-delete system isn't necessarily a bad thing. It gives people that like an app and are deleting it simply because they ran out of space and/or upgraded to the full version an easy means to post a quick anonymous review.
