Why is the App Store so barebones and cumbersome? Is it by design?

Try accessing iTunes from your computer :p

The iOS app store doesn't have a wishlist.

I wish that itunes/app-store was integrated into a single app and took some influence from steam - trailers for apps, it should track and keep your Game Center achievements, it should track sales, etc.

I have never found the design to be cumbersome but it could definitely use some fleshing out.

It's a glorified apt-get repository with purchasing built in but in my opinion it's actually missing the most useful feature which is the ability to block certain apps from updating.

It works quite well but in my opinion that's all it is.

Ahhh... well that's just retarded, then. I barely ever plug my ipad into the computer unless it needs an update. Why is the iOS version stripped down so much? The whole point of iOS devices is that theyre portable... so, why force me to use a desktop for such a trivial feature?
