Just wondering if anyone knew why Apple's app store was so useless? I mean, it just seems bizarre that it doesn't have a basic "wish list" or an "advanced," deeper search. Why is this? Is this by design...? What other explanation is there when talking about a company renowned for its design talent?
theres a wish list on itunes and the search is perfect. really the best mobile store it can possible be
Appstore have a wishlist but it can be improved and it should IMO. For example they can add push notifications for iOS devices so we can see if any app on the wish list gets price change. Also we should be able to see our apps that bought previously and favorite them. I know we can see already our purchased apps but that function is a real mess. It is most likely for to check our spendings.
You can use AppShopper for push notifications. But I completely agree about the purchase history though.
I'm sure it's by design. They always try to keep things simple. They often push apps that let you do more, so they obviously know better.
Its usable, but I'm sure everyone has a list of things that would make it better. Apple designed it for the computer illiterate people out there, who need the simplicity to not feel overwhelmed by tools and features that they wouldn't use.
+1..I've bought over 550 paid apps now from iTunes over the span of over two years, and I've never any problems with it. It's truly excellent and simple to use. The only thing I don't like is the purchase history. They can definitely do a better job with that.
Funny how this thread relates perfectly to the iTunes Store. Confusing, some buttons work, others don't, trying to use the purchase history and lets not forget that tiny little search window that doesn't show much of the game title and have to bring up an iPad version or a lite, etc to get to the full version via another screen. And booting it up is relative to waking up some kind of prehistoric dinosaur. I cringe each time I need to go into it. And this is designed for the simple minded?
So have I, but only because someone from TA made the effort to find it, or a developer specifically pointed it out, or Apple pushed it in my face. That doesn't mean the App Store is good.
