What´s the reason not including settings/prefs to the app itself? I really hate it when some apps have their own additional slot in the standard system seetings (often for just 1 or 2 functions) What do you think and how could this behaviour be stopped ?
I don't like the clutter but it doesn't bother me that much. The Apple guidelines are that settings that you are likely to set once and not change at all (or rarely) are suitable to go under the settings app, ones which you may change frequently should be in app. Part of the reason behind this IMO is it avoids clutter in the applications themselves, which on such a small screen is vital.
I think Apple's guidelines are nigh on perfect in this respect. Clutter Schmutter how often do most people actually go into their settings? Not very often I would guess, better keeping settings-files that will only be used once in a blue moon in one place rather than cluttering the individual app...
I like them all in one place and out of the way when running the app. I like this guideline. I do it for my latest app that has only (currently) one setting, but I didn't want to ugly the UI in the app to get that one setting in that will almost never be used by the majority of people.
