[Update] Price has been dropped following feedback posted in this thread. Question: Why aren't YOU playing Coverfire HD (iPad only)? iTunes Link: http://toucharcade.com/link/http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=412358465&mt=8 - It's a good, tough, retro-inspired arcade maze/shooter game - The price is pitched optimally for an iPad-only game of this type - Buying it will potentially inspire other independent developers to specifically target the iPad market I am not associated with the game Coverfire or the developer. I have bought the game and I currently have the highest score on Game Center. I'd like to see more people playing this game. Post your reason for not buying Coverfire. Some example reasons could be: "I'd like to try a lite version first" "The graphics look a bit too retro for me" "It sounds too hard" "Not many people are playing it. Why should I be any different?"
The real reason I don't own this game is because this is the first I have heard of it. However, I can tell you that I am interested now because it has one thing I look for in an app. A recommendation. Now that said I don't think I'll be rushing to purchase this, I have never played the game it is supposed to play like, and I'm not sure I understand how it works from the description and screenshots. I'm sure its worth $5 but with all the games I currently have on my iPad I'm not sure I'd purchase the game with the limited information I have.
I am not playing cover fire because there isn't a lite version to try. I love the look and the idea behind it, just not sure if I would enjoy it enough for a purchase.
Serious question - are you not playing it because you bought it and don't like it, or are you not playing it because you didn't buy it? If you didn't buy it, what makes you think it's horrible?
It's iPad only. The graphics are retro and the gameplay looks boring. I've never heard of it. The icon and menus are unappealing. And the controls look unoptimized for a touchscreen.
There was going to be a special prize for this answer. It's behind that small crumb of sawdust behind you, just over there.
Let's break this down... It's iPad only. Yes, that's kind of the point. Would it be a better game if it was on iPod/iPhone too? Probably not. The graphics are retro. Deliberately so. That isn't a bad thing. However, if you don't like retro graphics, that's a perfectly fine opinion to have. The gameplay looks boring. You haven't played it. It is not boring. I've never heard of it. Well, you have never heard of any game until the first time you hear about it. If you think it could have been marketed better, maybe that's true. Did you see how many people had "never heard of" Space Miner? Was that a bad game? There you go. The icon and menus are unappealing. Ok, valid observation. I don't agree, but still a valid observation. The controls look unoptimized for a touchscreen. Controls are perfect. Everyone who has posted in the main thread agrees with this, particularly after playing the game for a considerable time. I'd file this under "needs a lite version". I think that would make a heck of a difference.
Ok, given that the people playing it and posting in the main thread are generally really enjoying it, would a lite version interest you? I think it would make a big difference once you tried it.
If it had a version for the iPhone, it would 15 times more appeal, and I might actually think of buying it. It might not be better, but it would explain why so many people aren't playing this. The graphics are retro, but the game still looks awful. Back backgrounds and awful sprites just look old, not classic. Look at Super quickhook for the only retro graphics I could ever stand. Ya, well tell me how fun the gameplay is in the screenshots, or I won't buy it. Anyone can say a game is fun, but if I can't see that, I'm not sold. Honestly, tell me what is good about that icon. Gloss, too cluttered, not unique, it just looks bad. Let me find a much better icon for you and you'll see how bad this one is. Would you tap on it if you saw it in the app store?
It's 4.99, it's unknown, the screenshots look terribly boring, I don't like the art style, I have never heard of it until now.
That would be because it is retro it's based on an old game . And graphics do not make a game Infinity Blade being a good point in question great graphics but boring as hell
