I think you got it, but unless you stop listening to the movie/ stop watching it at the same time, you should get it, as right before it shows the "confusing" part there is an audio cue from his wife indicating what happened.

I know what happened to him in the end. What are you talking about? Tania's indication of Wikus is clearly shown in the end.

Im going to try to say this without spoiling it.

Do you mean the whole Flower thing? Yeah I didnt realize wth happened till I saw the movie a Second time. I thot that was Chris at first trying to cover for Wikus while he's gone letting his wife know that he's still out there and loves her.

I think they should have made the "last alien with the flower" a different color, thats what threw me off, i thot it was chris.

So yeah, like i saw i watched it twice now, two days in a row, and I would gladly see it a third time. This movie just jumped to Number 2 Movie of all time for me.

I dont know what it was but the movie hits you in a certain spot. You feel such connection with the characters and you feel sadness towards the Prawns.

Some of you may disagree on the next part but....

I really do hope they make a sequel. I KNOW and am positively sure it wont top this because of its originality. But I think that I would enjoy hearing the rest of story, and Maybe a better explanation why they landed on Earth. I have a feeling they will do it because they left so much open. I would love to see Sharlto Copley again in this, he is a phenomenal actor. Kinda reminded me of Borat in the beginning and then turned into a non crappy version of Christian Bale. Great Acting.

As soon as this movie hit the black market, im sorry but I will be downloading it. When it comes out, I will FOR SURE get the Special Edition if there is one.

I have to say this movie changed my life a little bit

Sequel, no, book or something of the sort? Maybe. Hell, there's probably gonna be something in the DVD that will explain a bit more.

But yes. I loved this movie with a passion. It's my favorite movie ever and I've seen it three times. Deserves all the love it can possibly get, and I'm glad majority of the people LIKE its controversial nature. A++. Great movie, go watch it now.

Now I must wait for the DVD release :(

I am a huge sci-fi nerd and was super pumped to see this.

    It rules.

Really really great movie. I know a movie is good when I can't stop thinking about it a few days after I've seen it.

And I'm proud to say the that Neill Blomkamp and a lot of the crew came from Vancouver Film School. :)

And it is definitely begging for a sequel.

Err. I think the movie worked for me because of its reverse psychology set up. You know.. the aliens are already here and humans are the bad guys.

If the sequel indeed happens, it'll be like just any other alien movie. No? :D

    No, not at all.

They could follow up with the story of Christopher and Wikus and their fates. Whether or not they come back to simply conduct an evacuation or wage war. The re-transformation of Wikus...if he still wants to become human again.

Lots of room for another awesome movie IMHO.

I think an Evacuation would be awesome. I'm just a little pessimistic that it'd be just a regular alien movie that way.

I really like the ending. Really put together and still open ended for interpretation and a possible sequel.

Obviously there is going to be a sequel in 3 years since chris said he'd be back in 3 years. I think they are trying to make the movies seem like they actually happened in real life.

I've seen it and while yes it is better than most of the sh*t Hollywood gives us I am finding the reaction to be WAY overrated (much like 300 was) IMHO. I was a little underwhelmed after seeing the film. Far from perfect, it had holes in it and plot devices to move the story along which in my mind were absurd (coming from a big sci-fi fan).

I just don't understand why these directors and editors can't pace a movie correctly. They build up for over one hour and then rush through the third act to try and cram it under two hours. Of course this could have been the heavy hand of the studio too.

Up did this (overrated by Pixar standards), D9 and even the craptastic (shivers) Twilight.

To the people calling Neill Blomkamp a genius...ugh that is pushing it big time. For those of you that were not around for some of the 70s and all of the 80s, Neill generously took ideas from other films.

Then again most directors do..from the original visionaries.

After watching it a second time, I still think it is great..But you are right, there are some plot holes and some nonsense in the movie. Its still fun to enjoy though.

I don't know if everyone noticed this, the whole movie is pretty much like the HALO game. The weapons, the prawns, the "Dropship" lol... its all there :D

The only way I see a sequel being good is if the Aliens come for a evacuation and the humans refuse to give up the prawns because they're just now starting to understand the technology. So while the aliens are trying to come in peace, the humans are attacking like crazy, sending nukes, etc.

I think the perfect ending would be if the aliens got fed up and blew the crap out of the earth or the humans got so paranoid that they shot down the ship using some giant weapon that killed half the population.

The movie certainly is a "go and have some mindless fun" type of movie with somewhat of a story that makes you think (a little). But classic sci-fi it isn't. Alien is classic.

People are so starved for a good sci-fi story that I guess anything that resembles some thought instantly garners "classic" status.

PS - The director of this was considered for the Halo movie. Spielberg has his hands on that property now (as a producer). Who knows if it will ever get made.

I honestly don't really see them doing a sequel. The ending is just too perfect in how wonderfully ambiguous it is. Is Christopher dying? Will they make it back to the home world? Will their home world even care about the workers stranded on Earth? Will Christopher's kid come back with a vengeance? Is Wikus transformed for good? The movie just ends with so many excellent questions that are completely open to interpretation and limited only by your imagination.

Also, maybe I'm alone on this, but I really think that District 9 would have been a lot better as a PG-13 movie. It had so much unnecessary gruesomeness. I like special effects just as much as the next guy, but I thought the gore was just excessive. Not only that, but I'd love to have the script open in a word processor to see how many instances of "F*ck, man!" are in it.

I didn't really spoil anything unless you're a complete dunce when it comes to picking up on foreshadowing.
