For those of you old enough to remember, who do you think won this rap war? Dre? or Eazy? Who was the real gangsta?
lol most too young to know of this rap I guess or didnt like rap at all. I remember this feud from back then and I saw a few people posting about it as I was checkin out another site. Guess the question is who is/ was the better rapper
I have heard of Eazy but dre I have heard of so I guess that answers that question also editing my previous post
Dre had the tighter rhymes cause he was an actual rapper. Eazy didn't have that skill, as he was an actual gangbanger who actually financed the group early on. So in terms of "who is the real 'gangsta'" it would be Eazy, 'cause E was an actual LA gangbanger. Dre wasn't ever like that, and, if you actually look up early Dre, he used to wear jerry curls and costumes in his "stage persona" (ala early Furious Five and South Bronx rap stars who took after Rick James and Parliament Funkadelic for their stage personas). In terms of career, it was obviously Dre. Quite a talented producer, actually. And, yes, I'm old enough to remember this one. Actually was discussing it the other day with an old friend. Then we went back to the older LL vs. Big Daddy Kane feud, and even the KRS/BDP feud with Roxanne Shantae and the other Queensbridge crews. But the difference was those feuds were straight hip hop battles. Dre and E were dishing out death threats.
I'll also add that those early BX rap stars didn't get ragged on for their stage personas for these reasons: 1. It was the late '70s/early 80s, where such costumes were commonplace in music. Dre kept wearing that crap into the mid '80s, after RUN DMC changed the "look" to street hustler wear. 2. None of the early stars boasted about being a gangbanger when they weren't. Oh, they'd talk about hustlin', but hustlin' ain't gangbangin' - it's more of a solo activity. And the costumes were part of the hustle, really. 3. Dre looked silly as hell in that stuff. Furious Five and Kurtis Blow actually looked cool, same as Rick James and George Clinton always have. Some people can pull off those costumes, some can't. Dre is one of those that can't.
I'm under the impression that Dr. Dre doesn't actually write any of his songs, so E has him beat there. However, Dr. Dre easily passes him in terms of popularity, and I think at least, overall talent. And to the guy who said "Retards Attempting Poetry": Funny joke man!
I'd say easy e, but I don't care much for either. The best old rapper was Big L. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbvyqjEnLns (Profanity) Easily Immortal Technique, followed by MF Doom and then Mos Def.
The I only rap I ever liked was eminem. All this other shit annoys me. I don't care if you have a million dollars, or if you have swagger.
So listen to underground, such as immortal technique, because they talk about their lives, politics, religion, and hundreds of other issues.
