I'm currently in the market for an "invisible protective skin" for my iPod Touch 2G.
For those that wish to skip the story please skip to the second paragraph ;)

I've gone through 2 full body Invisible Shield's. The first one I didn't apply so well and the corners came undone rather quickly. With my replacement, I applied it near perfectly. I used this one for months, however since the Invisible Shield doesn't cover the back of the iPod Touch 2G very well, it collected dirt and grime from handling and the corners have finally peeled back leaving the iPod unprotected.

I've heard of a couple of other companies that offer similar skins, to name a few: Best Skins Ever, BodyGuardz, Phantom Skinz, Clear Protector, and Ghost Armor. Phantom Skinz, Clear Protector, and Ghost Armor are new to me so I don't know much about the actual product. Not many sites offer recent discussion about many of these products and I can't find many comparisons between them.

Anyone have insight as to which skin gets the job done the best or have had a really great experience with their product?

Edit: Just a note, I'm specifically looking for Protective Skins (clear and "invisible") since I'm a little over protective with my electronic devices (for good reason too, you take care of them, and they continue to perform as expected).

Sorry Paulio, not quite what I'm looking for.

I really wish there was a site that went into depth about the differences, pros, and cons, of these products, would make it a lot easier to choose, don't like putting on a blindfold and unknowingly walking into a truck if you know what I mean.

Yeah I feel you bro. Same thing happened to me, I got the full body invisable shield and it sucked ass putting on. I f*cked it all up so I got my replacement, and I just put o n the front one and it looks ok. Then for the back I used this For the back cover and I can honestly tell you man, it was the best purchase I have ever made. Really light, not too bulky (can still fit in car adapters and docking ports with it on, which is tough to find) and its a weird seethrough greyish colour that when applied it almost looks smoke grey/black witha slight hint of an olive colour (almost). Looks f*cking killer. It's a great deal if I must say so myself. I would easily reccomend it for anyone. I got my wife and 2 other buddies use them too. Only complaint is the lack of colour variation from the maker. I mean the as is colour is cool, but I like to accessorize my gadgets lol

I went with the Phantom Skinz for my iTouch. Looks and feels awesome compared to what I've seen from Invisible Shield. The only thing is that the piece of film that covers the back is all one piece and it seems like you have to get it put on perfectly straight. It works really well though and covers absolutely everything. And none of that rubbery feeling orange peel nonsense.

It takes like 6 hours for all the water to dry out from the film, but when it does it looks reallllly good. If you really want some pictures I could take some for you, but I think you'll really like it.

I haven't really heard about the other companies you listed though. I'll be a Phantom Skinz customer for life

    Slim case

One of my coworkers got a slim case from griffin. it's not a skin but I'm thinking about getting it. It's rubber on the sides and clear on the back. I can hunt down a link if anyone is interested.

Anyway that's my random 2 cents

You are protective of your electronic devices yet you are looking for these thin things? Hmmmm.....

I'm protective of my iPod as well. I bought this iSkin case. It's awesome, anti-bacterial, and has helped my iPod survive numerous falls. And the best thing is unlike other cases, it does not get bigger or anything.

You might wanna look into something like that instead if you want to protect your device.
