Been looking at some of my game icons and some look pretty low res, and some are really just a mess, but there are a few that really stand out among the rest, even if it is for a bad game. Which ones are your favorite app icons?
Bastion- Everytime a friend borrow my iPod this is the first game they notice. MC4- Looks very appealing to me.
Favs: Cool Pizza - Smiling, severed hands get me everytime. Impossible Road - Distills the feeling of the game into its icon Hundreds - if they want minimal, Apple should hire this guy Hates - Every icon where the dev squeezes their logo into the corner. Are those 3mm really worth the advertising?
Sword & Sworcery: the white crescent on the background feels extremely stylish to me. CRABITRON: everybody is tempted to open the app when they see a space crab's silly smile Reaper - tale of a pale swordsman: I'm REALLY fond of this icon. I place it in the center of a page and look at it every now and then. Minigore 2: Mountain Sheep changes the boss on the icon a few times, but they all looks great. Mimpi: haven't played it, but the colors on the icon look so rich! FIST OF AWESOME: HE WHO PUNCHES A BEAR, IN THE MOUTH!!!
Well mine would be PUDDING MONSTERS also like the game a lot, infact ZEPTOLAB is my favorite IOS developer.
Polara is my favorite icon too. Together with Ronin, Reaper and Into the Dead. I really dislike icons with text in them, even if it is the game's title, or even a company logo. Most of the time, i think icons with HD on them look bad. Oh and i really like Slayin's cartridge style icon too.
You know I really don't know which is the best and its something I've never really considered. Looking at my apps now, I guess I'd say the ones I like the most are Wargames, Space Agency and Iesabel but tbh normally I don't give icons a second glance.
Interesting thread. I don't have many games downloaded on my phone right now, but out of the ones I do, I'd say Heroes and Castles (which I STILL have yet to play), Junk Jack, Rayman Jungle Run, and Bloons TD 5. I love Ravenous Games' icons too. No matter how bad the game is, *coughRandomRunnersandBeatdown!cough*, the icons always draw you in.
Planet wars. It would've been a generic "LOOK! I's GOTS A ME A GUN!" icon but the starry background changes all of that.
