So which one? I'm torn between BF3 and Crysis 2 (but that's from a PC gamer's perspective so it might not be fair.) Adding a Poll right now. It's hard to tell really. All Battlefield 3 footage so far is all PC footage in DX11 on a GTX 580, so we don't really know how much the console version will be toned down. It may be a little or a lot.
Assuming we're all acknowledging that this is just a guess because we haven't played the games... I'm gonna say either BF3 or Uncharted 3. I don't consider super high textures and post-processing to be the only things important for good graphics though, art direction and general consistency go a long way with me. BF3 looks beautiful and although the footage has been from the PC version I'm expecting the console ones to be pretty similar bar texture resolution and anti-aliasing. Even with a few effects removed it's gonna be a great looking game. Uncharted 3 feels like an obvious choice to me simply because Uncharted 2 still looks better than most of the games I own, so it seems like a natural progression.
No what you see in the footage is using tesselation and compute shader from DirectX 11. Unlike BC2, BF3 has it's own seperate development for PC. BC2 for PC was your generic "better textures and AA" mess. If this game was just gonna have better textures and AA, why the heck do you think all the gaming enthusiast are getting worked up about it? Tesselation adds way more geometry complexity to the world. Giving actual "definition" to objects like this. Not flat textures like we normally see: And this is what FrostBite 2 does with compute shader, adding a myriad of lighting effects for PC only. Again, If this game was just gonna have better textures and AA, why the heck do you think all the gaming enthusiast are getting worked up about it? I'm sure DICe will be true to their word, as they made more oney on PC BC2 than both console version combined, and the Pc version will be a graphical monster:
BFBC2 looked great on all platforms, BF3 is looking better and will likely be so across the board, despite all of the shit you mention (which I also alluded to, if you'd care to read the damn post). Nothing you said in the first has anything to do with platform vs platform AT ALL, so learn some English, learn to keep on-topic, and learn when to shut up. My estimation stays the same. Battlefield 3 will be the best looking game on PS3, 360 and PC. Uncharted 3 will be a very close contender.
I cannot imagine how ANYTHING can surpass Crysis 2 graphically. If it can match the graphics and avoid the pop-in, however, then that game (hopefully BF3) deserves kudos
Oblivion 5. In some ways, I still believe Oblivion IV is the best looking game on 360, even today. It stutters on the 360, obviously. It has to load in textures and the framerate is inconsistant. Oblivion V will be insane. And on the PC, forget about it. Nothing will match it. Not in action anyway. Screenshots are one thing. Graphics within the context of actual gameplay is another.
