As I said here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=1354570&postcount=10806 Also, Rogue runner is very impressive for a buck.
You must have a really awesome (and/or extremely short) collection of games if Angry Birds happens to be the worst Its nothing groundbreaking for me, but it definitely kept me entertained for more than a few hours. Anyways, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Just coz you dont like the game, it doesnt mean those who recommend the game are spamming(?) for it or something
Doodle Jump hand down had that game since the beginning. Cut the Rope is great but finished it fairly quickly with all stars so don't really have any motivation to go back to it until they add more levels. So yeah...Doodle Jump.
Oh yeah! Forgot about Doodle Jump! I must say though, after getting a high score of one hundred and something thousand I hardly play it anymore.
most say 'angry birds' or 'cut the rope' and those popular casual games. but by your description i say you're looking for something a little bit more meaty.. well, there's not much for 59p, but i'd say underworlds
These are some very good .99 games that weren't mentioned yet (unless they were). Robot Unicorn Attack: Heavy Metal Predators minigore geometry wars super laser block breaker deluxe 2 frogatto Wooden Labyrinth 3D - thousands of downloadable maps
Kinda surprised that no one's mentioned Helsing's Fire yet...that's my choice, anyway. Oh, and Fruit Ninja.
The first 12 games on the appstore's top grossing list are all .99c apps. 15 out of the top 16. You guys do realize that this is what holds back iDevice advancement as a true gaming machine. People are either too cheap or too casual in their gaming preferences, or both, to support legitimate iOS development. There is a lot of potential for the iDevice as a gaming machine, so this is a real shame as far as I'm concerned. Perhaps other people just don't care.
There is nothing wrong with $.99 cent games or "casual" games. There are still the GTA: CW's, Aralon's, FF's, Modern Combat, Project Sword, etc. type games. There is a lot of potential but success of $.99 cent games isn't necessarily going to hurt anything. I agree that a lot of games are undervalued on the Appstore market but at the same time, it's only been around a little over 2 years. The device will advance, there's nothing holding it back, and imo, it already is a true gaming machine, even if many of the successful ones only cost a buck. One thing the Appstore has proved is that a good game can make money, whether it's Angry Birds/Cut the Rope or COD: WAW Zombies, Street Fighter 4 or Sonic 4.
