While the newest design is usually an evolutionary welcome and inspired by the previouse interrations flaws sometimes the newest features arent as welcome or functionally sound. After 4 gens of iPod touch, iPhone and now iPad with 2 different designs in circulation the question is...what's your favorite and why? If you could make a "frankeniDevice" what elements would you keep from previouse models or what would you discard? I think the very first iPhone design was second best only to the iPhone 4, I never cared for the 3G design even though I did upgrade. And the first gen's apple iPhone Bluetooth was the best designed headset I ever had not to mention aluminum is always pleasing to my eye with devices. iPod touch has always looked smooth to me...even though the back was so prone to scratching. I wish the iPhone had the size specs of the iPod touch iPad...well it's still fresh, you have people that really prefer the first gen to the second....but it's not a majority. I think the iPad 2 feel is superb, however I didn't think the first one felt awkward but compared to the second it does feel clunky in some ways. So no poll but you can vote ( in a sense)
I like the design of my iPhone 4, but I also loved the aluminium casing on my original iPhone which felt so smooth and never got scratched. I'd like an iPhone with a similar design to the iPhone 4, only with a brushed aluminium back, or even carbon fibre. I'd also like a slightly bigger screen. Not as big as the HTC evo, but somewhere in between.
I detest the curved back on the 3rd Gen iPod Touch. Apple has it right with the current iteration, with the tapered edge but flat back. I was hoping that maybe the style of the iPhone 4 would somehow be transferred over to the Touch line, but I'm cool with the design of the 4th Gen and hope they retain the flat back for the next iteration (when I'll likely upgrade).
I definitely like the designs of the current generation iPhone and iPod touch better than the previous ones. I'm not in love with the current iPad though
I own the newest Touch and worried at first by the ultra-thinness of it as I could never hold it as is but knowing I'd be using a silicone gaming case around it there wasn't an issue and the backing is far more scratch resistant. I'am seeing it harder to find the correct volume button to push at times being they are installed on the tapered edge compared to the 2G I owned previously but another reason could be the case I'm using. I also wish the screen was enlarged just a bit but still retain the convenience of pocket toting. Overall I'm impressed with the newer device and that's my vote.
Not a fan of the glass back versions at all but apart from that they all basicly look the same to me. I'm probably in the minority but I don't like how they keep getting thinner either I just see it as a complete waste of battery space. But like it's been said once their in a decent case they all look the same anyway.
I think that's why I go naked unless it's an apple accessory, with so many copy cat designs on the market I don't want people thinking I'm using anything but apple. Not for status, just cause that's the product I purchased and believe in.
