I agree with Year Walk, fantastic game and kept me on edge the whole time. Indigo lake was good but it wasn't scary at all really Then obviously there is slender rising, 1. Year Walk 2. Dead Space 3. Slender Rising Haven't tried dungeon nightmares because it feels as though there are so many similar games like that and are not scary in the slightest so are a waste of money
There a lesser known survival horror game called Stay With Me (initially released as I Found You) that is really amazing and creepy despite now being somewhat dated. It reminds me a little of NES era Friday the 13th in that you control a team of kids trying to accumulate material to fight/avert a horrific chaser. SWM has a atmospheric dark environment with stealth puzzle mechanics where you walk around a dark building looking for your peers to rescue them while trying to avoid a ghost. The environment is really dark with crackles or lightening so atmospheric and feels claustrophobic. You amass items that help you create distractions or otherwise combat the ghost but often it's hard to tell where the fiend is lurking. - App Store link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id431208779?mt=8 - Touch Arcade thread: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=94384 Also, Indigo Lake really scared me. If you liked Indigo Lake, you'd probably also like The Woods (also by same IL developer). "Home - A Unique Horror Adventure" looking promising and has been in my backlog.
I was skeptical at first but I'm happy I gave dungeon nightmares a shot. Creepy as hell man... I do feel that the environs are TOO random... Once spawned in a room where there was a skeleton in the only path out... Suffice to say I got my @$$ royally kicked... Haha... The unpredictability gives it some charm though... The feeling that there may never be a way out... I dunno, that's how I feel anyway.
I think the randomisation is vital in Dungeon Nightmares. Knowing when and what comes next will totally make you feel at ease IMO. I actually wanted to deeper with the randomisation but I wanted to get this out to see if it was worthwhile. So far the response has been awesome so I now have some time to go into the other ideas I had originally. But but but... I need you for future beta tests.
So I got as far as day 3 now. Turns out, smelly behavior is also random. Those that attack you attack like those ghosts in Mario. :-D what is creepiest to me would be those random flashes that damage you as well... One question, is it just my ipad or are there really points where everything freezes and the screen goes black?
If everything goes black with a sudden sound... it will be one of the many "horror visions" that you encountered. The later you get in the game... the more horrific they will get too
The reason i stop playing this game is because of the loud scream when i opened a door. But i look forward playing this again.
So it's just a sound, no video or anything right? BTW, looks like Dungeon Nightmares is on its way to get TA Forums GotW! You know you have my vote!
it depends which vision the Dungeon wants to show to you sometimes it might just be pitch black... other times, someone might speak to you... it will get more "hell" like the later in the game you are (the trailer shows some glimpses - spoilers obviously) Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Thanks for voting too where it ends up on that poll, I've seen that there are enough fans to continue working on this game
