What's the point of Twitter?

I used to have a myspace. Comeplete joke. I mean I guess if you like curious pictures of 13 year olds posing as potential rape victims then it's ok.

Facebook... well I want to get it. I really do... but somehow I can't shake the feeling that it will be much different than Myspace (even though in a few ways I know it is)

Twitter is a fad, obviously. I use it for news feeds and chatting with a few random people and thats about it. I don't get the point of it as a Social Aspect other than seeing what everyone is doing... and even that is... well. I don't know. lol I am sure twitter will die soon, but I am just keeping up with at least a little socializing...

All my friends and I use it for organizing crap that we would have otherwise used buckets full of SMS or IM's to accomplish the same thing as a single tweet. It's so amazingly handy that I really don't see us switching off Twitter until something else better comes along.

Just being able to tweet something like "Hey going out to some bar tonight, anyone interested?" having people respond, and other people see those responses and can talk about where we're going, who is coming, and when we're meeting is awesome.

The only fad part of Twitter that I see dying off is every idiot under the sun branding themselves as some kind of social media expert because they have a Twitter account. As far as organizing things quickly or sharing things with a group of friends, nothing really comes close to how quick and easy Twitter just works.

Yeah I know ;) hahaha I talk to a few others on TA but not many.

And @Hodapp that part of it is the really handy part, and I think one of the dominant part of the network that people originally used it for (obviously).

Unfortunately for me I really don't have very many RL friends that even have an interest in using it in the least bit. So that aspect, as much as I want to use it, is useless to me. It really sucks too heh.

I need to live somewhere with technological friends who I can hang out with too.

    That's a big 10-4. :)

I am more or less kidding, but not. :D

I think I read somewhere that Chicago has the highest amount of Twitter users in the USA. It's probably true too, I literally don't know a single person locally who doesn't use Twitter on some level, even if it is just via SMS on a dumb phone and getting direct messages pushed out to them also via SMS.
