    Hey

I'm a massive foodie. I'll happily spend hours toying with different ingredients. This doesn't mean that I forget the bachelor life. Some of my of my best (and worst) recipes came from having no money and crap all in the fridge.

So what's on the TA menu tonight?

It's humid so just knocked out a Thai beef salad. Chilli, coriander and charred beef are bros for life

Heh, a food thread with no comments?

Are people afraid this will become an instagram photo sharing fest?

Anyways, on the menu for myself is a roast chicken dinner, with a multitudes of salads, including several that don't even have any semblance of an English name. The best one is made with chopped up ham, potatoes, eggs, gherkins (or pickles), peas and grated cucumber. Yumminess galore.

Here's a pic, in case anyone is interested:

(not embedding it so it doesn't become a pic sharing thread, like I mentioned D: )

I love man salads! Not a prissy lettuce leaf with a drop of balsamic. I real salad. With chunky stuff and big flavours. Sounds good mate. Special occasion or just getting creative for the fun of it?

    Heck yeah, real salads ftw.

Been experimenting with fish (tuna) salads recently too, found an amazing one that turned out nothing like the recipe, but ended up tasting amazing as heck and better than what they advertised. <3 experimenting!

It's for our weekly family gathering. Just having a nice dinner together.

Yeah noice! Pumpkin and roasted pine nuts are awesome for giving some balls to a salad aswell.

Tonight Im doing Beef Tataki with Fried egglant in a chilli, ginger and honey dressing. Both recipes I made up after tasting a few versions of the dishes in restaurants then playing with them later at home. If it turns out well then Im sorry. There will be a picture:eek:

Nai is out tonight so I'm cooking for one. If nachos aren't in your "Top 5 Bachelor Meals Ever" you're not adding enough sour cream

    Dig in peeps :)

After eating loads of them before I thought I'd have my 1st crack at a Malaysian Laksa.
Fish, prawns, bean sprouts, bouk choy, chilli, coconut milk blah blah blah

Here it is. Nailed it :)

Prob gonna bung some sort of frozen pizza in the oven, and when I smell burning I'll stop coding and go fetch it. I am a foodie - I can make an awesome, awesome chicken curry from scratch - but so much to code and so little time to do it.

Remember when you play games I've made that I ate bad food and sacrificed my taste buds ... for you !

I prefer the Chicago Town mini microwave pizzas to almost every other, except Domino's. Three-minute food is wonderful!

Thanks man. Someone had to do it. The worst I ever ate was when I was still a chef. I would cook all night then just eat instant noodles and toasties at home

I'm a bad person to ask as I never use a temp gauge. Duration obviously depends on the size of steak. I always use the hand technique. Once you get good at it you can just press the steak, lamb, fish or seal pup and know how well it's cooked. Here's the gist of it
    http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/the_finger_test_to_check_the_doneness_of_meat/

A man's best friend is condiments. Large range of different tastes that you can spread on toast with something resembling protein. Nothing wrong with preanut butter and jam tho:D

Instant food is pretty lame here. I need my pizzas crispy. Instant noodles are so frickin good tho
