Real Racing vs Need For speed

    Gameplay- Real Racing
    Graphics-Need For Speed
    Menus- Need for Speed
    Polish- Need For Speed
    Sound- Real Racing
    Realism- Real Racing
Fun Factor-"real" is fun so Real Racing
    Options- Real Racing
    Level Design- Real Racing
Controls- Real Racing because of more options
Display- Writing and numbers in Real Racing are a little small and dim. Need to make bigger or brighter

I prefer Real Racing over Need For Speed mostly for the realism.

  2. Both great....if you don't have either one then my advice would be get NFSU now for $7 then wait for price drop on Real Racing. If it doesn't drop after a month or two then just go ahead and pick it up anyway for $10. It's better to spend $17 for both these two quality car racing games than wasting cash on other car racing games in the app store that are $3 to $6.

Dude Real Racing is way better than NFS in the Graphics and possible the menus department.

Haaa... wrong "dude" Believe me I'm no fan of EA at all but common you cant say that Real Racing has better graphics. Cut the "excitement of a new release" bs out. Real Racing is a better game though. Its realer.

"Its realer". Real Racing needs to quote that somewhere ;)

Now THAT is a game I would love to see on the iPhone! :D I prefer arcade-y type racing games, but NFS is just a bit too "pretentious" in its attempts to be all serious and cool, and well... it's just not as fun as Burnout! ;)

That's a good way to put it. EA's Battlefield ps3, x360 was the same way. They tried too hard to make the game "cool"( or what they think is cool) and they really ruined part of the game as a result. Not to mention they copied COD for the most part. It's better when games take a realer approach and be original.

The good news is they're both really good. I voted for Need For Speed because I think it's a deeper gaming experience. I like the story, cutscenes, different play modes, licensed cars, etc...that being said, RR is a better driving sim, and awesome at what it does. I just prefer NFS of the two, because I expected an arcade racer, and I got one that I never thought would be possible on my phone. Now if only they could get different songs for it...

Which one has more varied/interesting maps?

I find racetracks boring and prefer cities/landscapes (and non-racer cars causing interference) so I thought NFS was probably a better choice for me. (But I'm waiting for Asphalt5 before I decide.)

Asphalt 5 looks bad IMO. I think I'll stick to Real Racing :)

@ Freedog - I don't know exactly when it will be released, but it will probably be quite some time after 3.0. Maybe late summer, early Autumn?

  15. Asphalt 5 beats them all. Just look at the sense of speed. Kinda brings the burnout feeling to the iphone. Having said that since we all know Asphalt 5 is the clear winner by a mile you'd be nuts not to have all 3.

Be aware that Asphalt 5 was shown on a 3GS. I don't think we know yet what our current devices will be like. (And a hands-on is always important to judge things a video doesn't convey.) It looks great (and I already like Asphalt4) but I'm playing wait-and-see.

I am very happy with Real Racing

Although Need for Speed looks pretty good, there is one weakness that has made me stay far away from picking it up - NO FIRST PERSON VIEW

I refuse to play a racing game in 3rd person (of course the exception is cute Kart games).

I wished EA would add first person to NFS, as I would pick it up (even though the cheesy, thugish cut scenes and so-called acting are trash - at least make it cheesy in a funny way)

Real Racing has an awesome interface all around - I highly recommend it, and I have Purchased almost 500 games for my ipod now.

Ah--good to know. Not a deal-breaker, but it does make me lean more towards A5 for my arcade racing. (A4 has both 1st and 3rd-person. And motorcycles!)

    Purchased both.. love them both.
But just to be clear, both games offer very different driving games.
Need is a pretty mindless arcade racer, with a cheesy storyline but nonetheless great fun and the car editor is very nice feature.

Real Racing is much more down the line of TOCA Race Driver from Codemasters. A much more serious racer, all about the cars and tracks, seriously aggressive AI cars and loads of features I expect in a racing sim of this nature.

But Real Racing gets my nod as this will have more longevity for me and reward, but anyone torn on which to get, should make a decision based on the type of racing game you like.

    :D

The looks bad. It looks like a nfs rip off. I know that EA is probably working on an update for need for speed for the OS 3.0 update. Remember it was suposed to be release on the summer, but for some reason they release it earlier just like they did with the sims saying it was a prerelease.
