I'm an indy developer and would like to hear you thoughs on types of games you would like to see on the iphone?

Also what length in hours do you expect out of different priced games?

How long do you expect a full charge to give you playing a game?

    Thanks

A rpg hack'n slash that does not seem a game for damned-snes.
But I realize that something like this is a job too heavy for an indy dev.

That's exactly what I was going to say.
Even something along the lines of a PS1 game would be great.

    Yup!
Also a 2D graphic can bring the right atmosphere to an rpg.
Something like baldrus gate or diablo 2.

I was thinking something like FF7. I think something like that would be very doable on the iPhone. I bet it's only a matter of time.

Did you really just ask an indy developer to recreate Baldur's Gate or Diablo 2 on the iPod touch?

I would like to see a rogue/hack/band type game made for the iPhone. The port of Rogue is good, but it lacks a lot of the advancements made for games like AngBand.

Here's something specific I've been waiting for: dicewars

While a # hours playability is a good metric for a beginning->end style game, I like (and pay more for) games that have higher replayability and involved communities.

  15. I have said this a few times before- I would really LOVE to see a good Rally game on the iPhone. No, not Cro-mag. A proper Rally game, like WRC or Colin McRae. A single Rally car along a point to point track with a timer. No opponents. No circuits. Just the car and some lovely scenery.
I really wouldn't mind paying $10 or even £20 if the game is good enough, long-lasting enough, and above all fun.

What is it with Rally? Why has it disappeared from the gaming world? I loved Colin McRae on the PSP.

any exitement for a TBS or a crossover with a RTS.. could be in the form of 2 modes, single and multiplayer?

would multiplayer in a turnbased game (TBS) on the same device be interesting?

Kinl, As an Indy, I know quite a lot of games are just too complex(No Offense), But one I would really like to see from an indy would be a Good Sniper Game. I think the iPhone would be a good platform for it, you could aim with either the Accelerometer or the Touch Screen, and maybe even zooming Google Maps style.

As for Time vs Money Factor, It depends on the game, if it's an RPG or Platformer, I'd expect 30 minutes per Dollar.
