Forget Apple (they got $ 41.1 Billion, they wont let it crash @ that cost anyway)... wht would happn to all of us (TAers - Filld with Gamers & Devs) & the non TA-ers (Also gamers & devs who hav NO clue tht the brethren [TA, obviously] was such a gr8 place) ?
Their stock would fall temporarily. Then when it gets fixed they will be praised for bringing it back.
People would get annoyed People would then realise they had a stack of unplayed games and they would play them Store comes back up People are happy and have no games now so they go buy more Devs are happy because we've run out of games and are buying heaps Apple are happy because they are profiting fast again Commercially it could be a sound move

Waaaaay too long! How about: "Steve Jobs murdered by obsessive iPhone freak" But seriously, people would live on normally, getting the chance to actually enjoy games, not jump from one to the other...
Real life/common sense answer: People would start downloading apps elsewhere. Answer that sounds better but is totally unrealistic: People would start praying for Apple that they fix the Appstore soon and send in donations of money and get well cards.

I'm pretty sure it's secure enough not to go down completely if something goes wrong somewhere... but assuming it did... Apple would pour money into getting it repaired ASAP and most people probably wouldn't even notice it'd disappeared temporarily.

I know for an absolute fact what would happen within seconds.... Threads here would be started. "Where did the store go? When do you think it will be back?" "Did you get all the games you wanted?" "How much money will you save now?" "Does the Zune play games?" and "How are you coping?"
Three words you will never hear in the same sentence. Unless your talking about a game. App Store, Crashing.
