I got a nes and a og gameboy, but my parents bought them in the christmas of 1991 and six months later or so I got my Snes and thats the one that dominated of most of my childhood memories. Thats the main reason I cant stop myself from buying most 16bit style rpgs even though I have no time at all to play them.
The first system I bought with my own money, was the PS2. But I was playing on sega master system & Genesis before that. They are my dads consoles.
Totally depends on what you mean by 'system'. The first video game capable device I 'owned' was a Window 98 PC (my dad set it up for me when I was like 5- had no internet access, and I played mostly adventure games, and some of my dad's games like Star Wars Dark Forces). My first dedicated gaming device was a Gameboy Pocket. My first gaming console was a PS1.
My first game system was the first iPod touch.. Sooooooooooooo.... Ya. In my defense a wasnt a huge gamer before!
The original Pong game from Sears & Roebuck in 1972. Then every console ever made as well as all handhelds (some multiple times) except the Neo Geo and that one table-top unit (I forgot what it was called) where everything was red. I'm an old guy and an OG (Original Gamer)
Atari2600. I've owned a console from every gen since then. My favorites of all of them would be the SNES and the Dreamcast. Prior to owning the Atari I had a friend who had one of the Pong sets and that was my first exposure to videogames...
that would have been the Virtual Boy no? I didn't have that one, but did have a Vectrex, which was a very cool little system...
I have actually wanted to get a Vectrex for a while. But I'm wondering if at this point it will just look cooler than it actually is? I love the graphics on it, though. I adore Asteroids' graphics, and it's my understanding that the Vectrex has the same kind of super bright pixels and such!
Yep the Vectrex was a vector graphics system (hence the name). Games like Asteroids and Battlezone are well known examples. The pack-in game was Solar Quest iirc which was a fantastic game. The system had quite a few good games actually and was nifty for having its own screen thus allowing you to play even if your dad was taking up the TV watching Dukes of Hazard or football.
The first console I owned was a Sega Genesis, though I played the Atari 2600, Colecovision and Pong in their day. My first computer was a ZX-81.
Anyone have a Sega Game Gear? We were so impressed by the backlight, even if the battery life was only a few hours.
The one console/handheld that I bought during it's "heydey" and that I actually still have. In fact I have 2 of them (though one didn't work last time I tried) was... can you guess??? ... no you can't. LOL. The Atari Lynx. I really liked it at the time. I keep meaning to sell all that I have of it, but it doesn't seem worth the bother. I have an N64, but I didn't buy that then. I only got that maybe 3 or 4 years ago.
