Uh... Well,pretty much the only German group I know of (probably the only group of which the educational system would approve) is a Pop group called Die Prinzen. The lyrics are okay, I suppose, but you may not be able to get over the peppy nature of the songs. My recommendations would be "Deutschland" and "Alles Nur Geklaut". Other choices would obviously be Peter Schilling's German version of "Major Tom" and the group Rammstein. But that's all I got.

Haha, yeah, Rammstein's pretty good. Then again, after my friend showed me the video of one of their live performances, I just can't take them seriously anymore. That said, a few of their songs (Du Hast, Feur Frie (I butchered that), Zerstoren) are actually really good, although there aren't many that really stand out to me. I searched Die Prinzen and listened to their songs. But as you suspected they were too peppy for my liking. Thanks for the suggestion anyway. I also listened to Peter Schilling's Major Tom, and that was pretty good. I love Germany, it's just a shame that there doesn't seem to be very many good German bands/artists. Yeah, I already have quite a few Rammstein songs already. They're good, although for some reason some of their songs make me laugh (not exactly typical of me when listening to heavy metal )
By any chance did you see a video of them performing live? Haha, that might be the reason you laugh when you hear them.
Nah, I think I laugh because Till Lindemann's voice can sometimes sound funny, especially when he drags out his words. I think part of the reason is because he sings in German. I can't quite put my finger on it, but he sounds less serious about it all than he actually is.

Alice in Chains - Angry Chair. And Rammstein didn't used to suck. Their old shit is awesome. What sucks is their German. They speak it terribly. And their english translations are worse.
