    +1 definitely

    enough casual games, i.e. simple platformer.
    we're long past the age of TD's, PVZ doesn't count.
    zombie games..yeah very new idea.

    I bet you skip Defense Knight, perhaps you should try, it's strategy and there's a lot of real time element making it an action game. The worse if you won't believe me. :)

    im pretty sure he and the general public refer to rts games in the same genre with games like starcraft and age of empires, where you gather resources, build an army, and dominate you enemy, not a literal "real-time strategy" game.

    Yes people prefer always the same games, I know, but that's exactly why I quoted it, because it fits Real Time Strategy but quite out of the highway. A sort of think different. :D

    EDIT: I'm no exception of the rules because I quoted "RTS never" (because if they are appealing they are too complicate to play for me) and after to have play one more time Knight Defense and come back to the forum section I realized the irony.

    So far there's been an overwhelming response for platformers. We have some unique ideas around this. Ironically, they are easier to code and build levels for than most other types of games. Any preference on 2d or 3d?

    @TheFamousEccles and @MystikSun
    It seems like a lot of people are anxiously awaiting FF-Tactics. Do you have examples of other great TBS games?

    @Registeel
    Some of the zombie games out there are an excuse for poor AI and minimal graphics...

    @moom
    Dota is great - haven't tried League of Legends but it looks great

    SRPG
    3d RPG

    RTS - have enough already
    Zombie Game (fresh mayhem) - you've gotta be kidding me, the appstore is already filled with this crap
    Simple platformer - already lots, you can hardly make something unique with this genre
    Tower Defense - ..... :rolleyes:

    War of Eustrath just came out which is a great example of a turn based SRPG. Battle for Wesnoth is also good.

    Anyway, my vote (complete with spaces to emphasise the degree of preference):

    3D RPG

    RTS

    Platformer
    Tower defence
    Zombie game

    1. Simple platformer - I really wish someone would create a platformer as awesome and vast as Seiklus or as deceptively difficult as Spelunky. So far all I've seen are a bunch of mario clones with poor controls.
    2. TD - I want a TD with stat development or some RPG elements. Something that is complex but not overhwelming, like YouTD for Warcraft 3.
    3. 3d RPG
    4. RTS
    5. Zombie game

    Platformers don't need follow classical old standards, there's a wide range. For example in comparison RTS as most people see them are in a much more limited range.... That's perhaps why you get more plateformers votes. Myself I have never been a huge platform game fan, but since I have an iPad, first I discover how fresh is the genre, second it's the game genre I play the most.

    About 2D/3D, I'd prefer 2D but as I'd wish you anticipate ipad support (and you certainly need support too the retina thing) I suppose that 3D will be more easy to manage that, and then will be fine for me.

    About Platformers not sticking into classical school, quote there's a wide range, for example: Orlando 2, Somersault, Bounce On 2, Parachute Ninja, Trundle, Hook Champ, Aerox, Chop Chop Ninja, Jet Car Stunt, Despicable Me: Minion Mania, Mirror's Edge, Toki Tori, Soul, Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor, Stick Golf, Edge and certainly more.

    Not to mention the diversity of those more classical like Grokion, Giana Sisters, Babylon Twins, Soosiz, Pix'n Love Rush, Plushed, and more.

    It's tempting to vote for such potential.

    Yes I suggest you port or make your clone of the PC remake King's Bounty The Legend. From far the more fun and amazing TBS I ever played.

    Wooo I think I really have your medecine, Knight Defense, sorry to be fat and heavy about it but it really fulfill your two wishes.

    Ok implicitly you also want nice graphics on some war theme that you won't get, but for the gameplay, you get your both wishes for the price of one game.

    I much prefer 2-D. Use an interesting, and colorful art style. By colorful I don't mean like pinks and reds and oranges everywhere, but rather so the artwork really sticks out. Actually I have no idea what I mean, just make it nice ;)
