Time to dip into even more obscure, even less mainstream music. Enter, Post Rock: Godspeed You! Black Emperor Mogwai Explosions in the Sky Do Make Say Think Mono The Six Parts Seven Caspian Tortoise, and the list goes on But I also like Porcupine Tree, Umphrey's McGee, Jose Gonzalez, Ratatat, Pink Floyd, The Dear Hunter and many somewhat more mainstream artists. I haven't listened to the radio in years, nothing on there is very good in my opinion.
I listen mostly to Surf,Jazz, Rockabilly/Psychobilly. The classics like: Louis Armstrong Count Basie Gill Evans Dave Brubeck Charlie Parker The Tornados The Lively Ones The Centurians Dick Dale Man or Astro-Man? The Meteors Batmobile The Sharks Elvis Hitler Deadbolt The Legendary Raw Deal The Krewmen The Beach Boys
you should check out red sparrows and glider if found them on pandora with my mogwai channel and their both great
i don`t like metal, rock, rap, hiphop, classic, soul, chartpop so what? everyone hears the music he/she likes. this thread is for the music you hear, not for the music you should hear. love&peace nick "there is enough room for us all in the cave, man"
yea dude taran Lupe Fiasco is the SHIT. everyone go listen to him. It's like rap but what a hip hop vibe to it. Not my favorite, but pretty damned good
So true. There's just some music I'll know I'll never really get into. Rap, for example. While I might have 20-30 songs on my ipod, I'm really picky about them, and they don't compare at all the to 900 other rock songs on there. I've got a fair share of pop, 200 songs or so, but like with rap, I won't ever really get into. Everyone's different. Some people live off punk pop or weird psydelic stuff with lyrics featuring tap dancing octupus's (octopi?). Just people's tastes.
What a fun thread. I don't have iTunes links handy to show you which albums I like, but: Rock: Kent The Eagles U2 Duran Duran Jazz and Vocal: Madeleine Peyroux Dianna Krall Chet Baker Hip Hop: MC Solaar The Streets Maxy Jazz Faithless King Britt Ice Cube Dr. Dre Trance: Armin Van Buuren Paul Van Dyk Paul Oakenfold Markuz Schulz ATB and many many more
eclectic: nice. I forgot to mention Depeche Mode - the only band who has me still buying albums nearly 30 years on! cheers
I have heard of them, but haven't been able to dig into any of their stuff. Forgot to mention The Mercury Program. I love some good vibraphone in any song.
Gorillaz, specifically anything but rap is OK with me, though my main listening material is podcasts, though
Same with me. I still listen to music a lot, but for some years now i have become a pretty big podcast-nut. I need my daily fix of podcasts... about music: I do like music in general, the genre does absolutely not matter to me. As long as i like the music the artist/band has to offer, i'm in. Naturally i prefer some genres over others (namely Hardcore/Punk/Metal/Grindcore), but as i said as long as i like the music it does not matter in which Genre it is originated. I generally despise "artificial" artists such as pop princesses or boy bands and most of todays radio material or chart toppers... My most played band atm would be "iwrestledabearonce", followed by "Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros", i guess...
