Repost, posted in wrong forum; Hey, I'm not a developer doing market research, but curious about what type of games everyone likes on their iphone. I am a huge fan of RTS games on my mac and the random FPS bloodbath once in a while, however on iPhone I find myself getting completely addicted to genres I had never considered and would probably never enjoy so much on a desktop system. I find myself drawn to the following games on iphone: RPG, TD and stuff like Peggle where you shoot balls at stuff and need to get a match etc.. you get the point (I would never touch this on a desktop system). I'd like to add RTS to this list, but still haven't found any true RTS (I keep compating it to starcraft and that's quite the benchmark) Very curious to hear your favourite genres! And do they differ a lot from your favourites on desktop systems?
Puzzlers TD's Racers TBS Top down shooters Pretty much anything that isn't a FPS/Third person Shooter or a platformer.
That's a difficult question: I love platformers, kart racers, racing games in general, rts games etc. I played them on the Pc, the Mac and the DS. But on the iPhone, I prefer puzzlers or games, which I can play in a short amount of time. I love games like Real Racing, Assassin's Creed, Sim City etc., but I play them when I'm alone, like at home, not when I'm in public, because the controls suck for playing in public. Try to play Real Racing in a filled subway with accelerometer controls and you know what I mean. Or Blimp. So, while I love love love other genres, the genres which I play most on the iPhone are: - Puzzlers, logic games, color matching games. Like Stoneloops, Edge, Scoops, Smiles, Peggle. - Tower Defense games. Like geoDefense, 7 Cities, Defender Chronicles. And when I have some more time, like in a plane or trainor at home, i prefer genres which involve me more: - Racers. Like Real Racing or Need for Speed. - Platformers. Like Rolando, Bounce On, Assassin's Creed. - Action games. Like Siberian Strike. - Time Management games. Like Airport Mania.
RTS: Westwards, Warfare inc, Ancient Tribe Sports: RF09, X2 Football, Let's Golf Racing: Real Racing, NFSU, Ferrari GT
You should've made a poll. It would've been much simpler. I'm stuck between Puzzle, Strategy, and Platformers.
Pinball!! Honorable mention: top down shooters (twin stick style or vertical scrolling, they're all good)
I say platformer. I don't like ones such as Nicky Boom or Inspector Gadget on the iDevice, but ones like Bounce On and Rolando are great games for me. I don't like dpads, I like control schemes like Rolando and Bounce On have.
Sounds like a market research to me haha! I love fps/3rd person shooters, rts, and rpg games. What i'm really interested in is mmo's. I really hate text based games and i'm alright with some puzzles. I'm also interested in anything modern. Like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Sonic (platformer), free to play mmorpg's in the computer and mmofps (hardly ever games for this genre), one more thing I really enjoy is Roller Coaster Tycoon.
I have enjoyed the few sports games that have been released (primarily baseball). I have also enjoyed the two GTA-clones released (Car Jack Streets & Payback). However, I'm not a huge racing fan and I absolutely despise the many MMO games that have been released lately.
:-D I assure you I have nothing to do with programming and developping app I'm just curious to see what areas of genres I should explore and seeinf if tastes differ geatly between desktop and portable preferences
TD's Survival shooters Castle defense Fun, silly apps like Save Kitty, Paper Toss, Hotdog Down a Hallway, Pocket God Puzzles RPGs
I don't know what it's called... Miscellaneous? I just love games like Flight Control or Harbor Master where you can just pick up and start playing.
